You know why it’s hard to be happy? It’s because we refuse to let go of the things that make us sad

That's so true sunnyg, the negative thoughts seem to play like a broken record inside our mind. It makes it difficult to see any happiness...

Somertimes it's hard to let go - i think the word refusal is a very judgemental statement and it sounds to me you are beating yourself up for not letting go - I think its hard for people to be happy because people have a certain vision of what life should be like - why don't you try to accept that you can't let go and accept that it may take a long time and that whatever you are feeling or going through is ok - there is no right way or wrong way to be or a right or wrong way to be happy - you must try to understand that by making this statement you are denying yourself even the tiniest opportunity to enjoy the smallest experiences that could give you joy - however accepting that you are holding on to things and that it's hard to let go will give a little space to incorporate some kindness towards yourself - and this kindness to yourself will grow and you will experience happiness- happiness like all experiences are fleeting- happiness is not a permanent state that is achieved only by the chosen few - all you have to try to do is be kinder to yourself and throw that stick away once in a while that you are are beating yourself with - try it

You are right. Thank you. Right now I need to accept it's ok to grieve..it's natural. I lost my sweet mother in law recently. Also, I think I am sad because I hate my job and I miss my kids who live out of state. SO.....you're right, it's OK to miss them, not LOVE my job, and be in mourning for a while. I can move on if I let myself vent and then be grateful for all I DO have.

Hi sunnyg, it's because we let our mind control us instead of us control our own minds.we allow the thoughts to start pretty much as soon as we open our eyes!! Hence anxiety attacks and feeling so depressed because it seems like another day to try and get through. I went to a meditation and mindfulness class last Thursday. It was one of the best experiences of my life!! I felt so happy afterwards like I could deal with anything life threw at me!! My point is doing something like this is time for you!! Just you!! It's a positive experience and will teach you how to stop those racing thoughts of doom and gloom and all the sadness. You've nothing to lose, give it a try and see how you feel. Take care 🙏🏻

Angep, how do I find a class like that in Austin, TX? Is there a name for the class? How much does it cost?

Hi, just look for someone who does meditation and mindfulness classes. Not sure if you have an I phone but when I search for something it comes up with it would like to search in my area! So I just allow it. So Google for classes in your area. It should hopefully be as simple as that. Where I live in the U.K. We have an app called street life. It puts you in contact with others in your area who have the app. It's a way of keeping in touch with your community. I put a message on asking if anyone knew of a homeopath that dealt with IBD one of my replys was from this guy who does the class. He said he has people in his class with other auto immune diseases and they have reduced symptoms now. So I gave it a go. Maybe if you have face book you could also ask on there. Good luck 😀👍🙏🏻
