Does caffeine and sugar effect anyone? Like make their anxiety worse at times? Or like coffee in the morning? If so any suggestions?

Caffeine and sugar are top things to cut out of your diet if you are anxious. Cutting them out made the biggest difference to me. They both made me feel jittery which made me feel nervous and made my anxiety wayy worse but that's just me!

I am going to try it just because I never feel good and it seems those are the things to kick out of my diet. I have coffee every morning and love coffee, and I have to admit I eat too much sugar in my diet so that may be causing my headaches. With all my GI problems I am supposed to cut those things out anyway. 😩Where did all the fun in my life goooooo?? Lol 😉😊

Hello Staystrong85

I had tests for headaches and sinus problems and was advised to cut down on caffeine chocolate cheese and red wine all my favourite things 😩 It's what everyone depressed person with aniexty loves to hear 😱 you can't have anything you actually do enjoy lol. Although I do agree caffeine and sugar which I cut down as much as possible does affect your aniexty I believe in balance and moderation. For me personally cutting out completely just adds more pressure and therefore makes you free miserably or really guilty if you drink a coffee when you shouldn't!! So try to set a realistic goal for yourself.

Take Care !!

If I have coffee in the morning it feels like my heart goes nuts and then I have a hard time breathing and get real dizzy but its like I have to just have 1 cup. The rest of the day I just drink water

I cut mine in half, half a cup of coffee and add water to the other half. It cuts down the caffeine. I also drink decaf sometimes but my grandparents like the regular stuff so I make due. I sure love coffee. People with high anxiety don't need coffee I keep hearing. But man I sure do like my one cup. I know my diet needs to change though if I want to improve.

Coffee gives me severe anxiety. I once drank coffee in the morning and went to work and I almost passed out from nausea and intense anxiety and dizziness. So I had to leave work for the day. Interestingly though, I don't get anxious from alcohol at all even if I take it with my zoloft

Well I am going to try decaf coffee tomorrow morning and see what that does for me. I don't drink caffeine at all only that once cup in the morning. Maybe that's why I get very anxious. I have bad anxiety and bad health anxiety as it is. Plus other health issues. So I was told to stay away from caffeine. But I will see what the decaf does for me and hopefully it helps a little. My anxiety is pretty bad from the start when I wake up in the morning so I think that's why the caffeine is making it worse. My heart literally went nuts today and I felt like I couldn't breath and then felt like I was going to pass out. Not a good feelings. So I will just see what happens tomorrow morning with a new start to my day!

Caffeine will make your heart race and your blood pressure to rise causing you to become even more anxious. I would stick to herbal and defcaffinated green tea instead of coffee. Sugar can also cause you to feel jittery try to limit or avoid it all together.

Yes, I try to stay away from anything with Caffeine because if I don't my anxiety will be 10x's horrible

I had a horrible panic attack on red bull so I cut way down on caffeine. Coffee seems to be okay for me personally just not energy drinks

in reply to

I couldnt even imagine drinking an energy drink I would probably be off the wall

in reply to

I always have a coffee in moring but if I have to much or its too strong it does effect my anixtey and make it feel worse so I do have to watch how much caffeine I have x

Yeah only when i over do it...it makes my anxiety act up.

Yes yes. I drink decaf now. And it definitely helps 🙂

I drank decaf coffee this morning and it seemed to be fine. I wasnt freaking out as bad as I normally do with the caffeine but I did have a bad headache. My body is probably so used to that caffeine in the morning Lol

I find at night if I drink to much fizzy juice my brain tends to go into overdrive and I overthink things a lot which causes my anxiety, but as for coffee I couldn't live without it.

I think it just depends on what your body can handle if you know that as you call it soda is going to make you anxious, maybe take it in smaller amounts and the sane goes for coffee.
