Hey, I don't know what you're going through but honestly I am experiencing similar emotions about the past. I keep feeling freaked out, anxious or guilty about my past.

It is the PAST though, remember that.

You have nothing to be afraid of. Face your fears and know that this website has your back.

Your counsellor won't judge you!

I wish you the best of luck!

I haven't been on the website long but it's very supportive and counselling helps. They will give you a different perspective on your situation and bc you don't know them, it's easier to open up.

Hi Charlie...it's my wife who suffers from the awful memories of the past....the only way to go forward is to face the past...if you talk about how it affects you living normally you will find by getting it out there with your counsellor he or she will teach you to cope with your memories...my wife is having the same now...once a week..one to one...it is helping..so good luck...x

Yeah, it's helpful but expensive.

Hi Applepie

When in an anxious state, the mind creates anxious thoughts and all emotions are magnified/intensified so that something that may have caused a small amount of guilt or fear in the past and easily brushed aside, may now seem so overwhelming/bewildering to the point that you have to get it off your chest.

Obviously I do not know your personal circumstances but thought I should repeat a section from one of Dr Claire Weekes' books that advises sufferers to beware of yielding to the impulse of confession while in such a sensitised state because it can sometimes complicate matters, not comfort. When well, if the impulse to confess wasn't there or could be easily brushed aside, it may be prudent not to raise the matter with a person who does not understand sensitisation of nerves which is the major factor of being in an anxious state.

Its a technique that can help anxiety and stress by altering how memories are stored or recalled, the process is meant to boost serotonin which is a mood stabilizing chemical, this can interrupt the link between memory and the way we recall it and the distress it caused, my chiropractor practices it and its very successful, its usually a 2hr session and most times only 2 are needed, pop it into google and hav a look for urself, wen its bad i kno il try anything to ease the feeling

I was told a story by my chiropractor about a client who had a horrendous past, never gave any details, two sessions later and they are in a far better place, if u put into google havening it gives u a search engine for ppl who practice it in ur area, worth a try, u dont want ur past to dictate ur future, its took enough of ur life up

That is so true. People have messed up my past. I dont want to let them take my future as well. They have taken enough
