Did anyone ever got off depression and anxiety drugs permanently and sucessfully after being on it for 20 years intermittently? Please share your experience and hopes. Thanks everyone. May God continue to help us in our pains.

..I should add that the Psychiatric has given me too many different ones over the years. Nothing seems to help now and to make matters more confusing the Clinical Psychologist has advised that i can really go off the medication and really get suck but eventually overcome. I really do need help if someone stopped it sucessfully.

Hi Atenns2, it is possible even after 30 years of daily antianxiety med. The dose was small but my dependence was growing. I made the decision with my psychiatrist who neither approved or disapproved. I followed a very strict regimen and was told that I would need support from family in order to get through it. The rule of thumb was to decrease slowly and never up the dose. I did it on my own with no support. It took 2 years to wean off the meds and now it's been another 2 years completely benzo free. Here definitely is a new awakening for me. I wish you well in starting the process. It's not easy but it can be done.
