I find this group to be the most helpful thing I've discovered. Google only confirms that I am dying... When in reality I'm fine.

Hi DawnMarie,   you are not going crazy.  If you have been diagnosed with anxiety and panic attacks, the best thing you can do for yourself is stay off Google.  Instead, find out what is happening to you when you feel these symptoms.  By knowing where they are coming from can reduce your anxiety level immensely.  Unless you want to be hooked up to a monitor in the ER, this is the best way to go.  What we need to do is to type in Anxiety and then your symptom rather than just your symptom.  This will get you into anxiety issues and explain your symptoms from an anxiety point of view.  Much different than giving you a medical reason for your symptoms.  x

Thank you. This helps. How long have you had anxiety?

DawnMarie, I've had anxiety issues for more than 30plus years.  During that time I have tried everything from Biofeedback, Hypnosis, Meditation, Deep Breathing, CBT, Therapy, Water Aerobics, Attending classes on Stress Management and on and on. Over the course of the years, I learned a lot about anxiety and the tricks it plays with your mind producing bodily symptoms.  Unfortunately, we tend to tune people out who are trying to help us because we feel they don't understand us.  It's only more recently that I am becoming myself again.  To my surprise, everything I was taught and told by  therapists came to be true.  I wasted all those years but maybe now I can help others who are just experiencing the life changing events of living with anxiety.  xx

Dawn, I am a former paramedic.  CNA might not have been the right job for you.   And that's okay, the things we see and know sometimes leave a mental image that's hard to erase.  As well as physically challenging.   x

Hi. What were all the things therapists said turned out to be true? Was tuning out people one of them?

Hi Chubbers, what's happening?  Is wanting to go into the hospital for help or escape?   x

Chubbers, hopefully you are asleep now getting ready for another stressful week at work.  The reason I asked if you wanted to use the hospital as a respite is because at one time I did.  I was so overwhelmed with the daily fear and it's symptoms that I just wanted to hide somewhere I would be taken care of and medically treated.  It was heart wrenching to see everyone walking around in a daze (heavily medicated)  It was a time for mental escape.  As unreal as it felt, it became my safety place until one day the nurses yelled at me for always crying in the morning and I was told to leave the day room.  Gee, now where would I go?  That's when I gathered up everything I had learned through therapy, got off my benzos and used the meditation and deep breathing to get me through each day.  It was a true learning experience because there is no where to escape what's coming from our mind.  I'll  be thinking of you   xxx

Escape 😥

Dearest Chubbers,  I fully understand "Escape".  It's about the only place we can escape physically and be safe.  The units are locked and therapy is always available.  I hope it doesn't come to this for  you, but if it does you know I will support you.  I want you to feel better.  Wishing you well. xx

No, I don't Google symptoms and never have. What I have done is Googled various reputable organisations who deal with mental health issues and checked out their info relating to anxiety disorders.

I would strongly urge folks to STAY AWAY from Dr Google. Instead, think about the how and when scenarios:  HOW did anxiety start for you; WHEN did it start. There's always a cause. Always. Therefore a person needs to think long and hard especially if its not readily apparent.

My anxiety is related to chronic stress as a result of poorly treated sciatic pain and a number of other matters. That chronic (untreated) stress has now become severe 24/7 anxiety. It is sincerely horrific to live this way especially when it's accompanied by a number of crippling symptoms.

Please don't add to an already over-mind, body and spirit. Instead, work on the cause and anything else you can do to ease the symptoms. Most importantly, educate yourself in all matters relating to anxiety. ✌

Ok, tough job I know  ... and understand 🌹

I am have been an RN for 16 years. I Google which throws me into panic mode (not all the time) but when I am anxious about something or when there is no definitive answer for my symptoms. Stay off Google, I know....easier said than done. The internet can be a great resource but only for those who don't suffer from anxiety or panic attacks.

Googling odd symptoms is what led me to this site & I must say it's much more reassuring to hear from you all that every frightening symptom isn't necessarily a deadly disease than to consider what it could be...

We've all been at the Google door. I always Googled my symtoms but I wised up when u Google a symptom u will always find the worst scenirio so the first thing u have got 2 do is 2 stop googlin. I no u are looking 4 reassurance but going 2 Google is not a good idea.when I stop googlin my anxiety  started 2 go no more worst scenirios and my symtoms  started 2 fade I know  r anxiety is real but we always look for the worst thing so stop googlin all it does is fuel r minds with worst case symtoms

Please don't Google anymore. You are not alone, an you are not going crazy.  Crazy people don't know they're going crazy!  Nor do they care. I've suffered for 27 years with anxiety and panic. No... it does not kill us. No... we do not go crazy. That would be too easy lol. What I believe has helped me most through all these years, is to try and remember that we feel sensations.  They are only feelings, and our brains are trying to trick us. Keep your chin up, sweetheart. It's a rough road, but we pull through!

That's currently me. I have sinus issues . Dr said rhinitis . Anyways , like you , I've been googling things, because some issues , I think in my mind, aren't sinuses ..but both my Rhinitis & Acid Reflux give me sh** & I always think it's something else ..I turn into a worry wart & stay on Google & then the panicking ..it sucks. I hope the anxiety goes away & you get better , from whatever is bothering you . Sending positive vibes to you :)
