Health Anxiety, what can I say...other than I hate you and I hate myself for not being able to fully beat you.

5 months ago this began when I thought I had a brain tumor, then I went to lung cancer, then to COPD, then to PE, then to Heart Issues, then to Cancer, then to blood issues. So after all that I've had pretty much every test one could think of-ranging from simple blood pressure, to spiro tests, to nuclear stress test, to MRI's and CT scan.

But with all that, and every test telling me that I'm a perfect healthy 32 year old male, I now believe that I have MS...Freaking MS. Even after the dang MRI I had 2 months ago...which was perfectly clear...this is my worry.  What symptoms do I have? I'm a bit clumsy sometimes and my eyes hurt and I'm tired. Must be MS right! Can't just be that I have a newborn and a two year old, and a full-time job, and a wife. Nope...can't just be tired like a normal person..I have to believe I have MS. A 0000.33% chance and wouldn't you know it...I've cooked it up that I have it.

I threw in the towell. I've been fighting off anxiety the natural way without meds, but this is the last line. On to meds I go, I need help. Therapy and meds and a positive way ahead to beat this. This is just getting ridiculous at this point.

I know how you feel I was like that for nearly 12 months but after having so many tests I know I'm fine and reassure myself everyday I'm ok. I never took meds. See a psychologist as its what has helped me get back on track but I still have bad days but nothing like they were. You need to think positive and reassure yourself you are ok.

That's what he keeps telling me. He say's I'm in a loop that is similar to OCD, I'm just applying it to health issues and research and creating symptoms. Happy to hear someone out there beat the cycle. My biggest issue is research, it's amazing what you can create after reading a few symptoms.

For instance: I read a woman who had her first sign of MS was feeling like she had a hair in her eye she couldn't get out. Guess what I felt this morning when changing my daughter???? It's insane.

Hi.....I could of written your story myself, I too suffer from severe health aniexty, I have a huge Cancer phobia, I too get physical symptoms but like you I think the worst, oh it must be lung cancer because I've got a cough or it must be bladder cancer because I've got a UTI, or skin cancer because I've got a pimple on my leg, you name it I've been the doctors convinced its the C word , my focus at  the moment is Lymphoma, because got a swollen gland in my neck, the list and negative thinking is endless, but like you I'm a healthy no drinking, no smoking, just turned 40year old female. It all started for me 7 years ago when my mum died from cancer, then I began to question my own health, and its just snow balled from there.....you are not alone!

Thank you so much for your reply. Its a crazy thing How the mind can cook up so much trouble. In almost convinced I have MS or some other Neuro diseae...but my MRI is clean and the symptoms are too varied. So I'm just screwed

Most anxiety states begin with an traumatic event such as the death of a relative, if it was from cancer , this lays the foundation for a cancer phobia, if it was from heart disease it manifests in cardiac phobias etc....usually the first event leads to reactive depression which slowly and insidiously eats away at ones peace of mind and allows anxiety to creep in to every thinking moment. Then you start body listening to yourself and that creates tension which produces pain and discomfort and affects your natural breathing rhythm and so on until nothing in your mind or body feels right....because everything goes out of sync.

I had a very bad anxiety state some 30 years ago which produce many hospital admissions for cardiac test etc....loss of job , marriage , friends ...etc.

I learned about an Australian psychologist Dr Claire Weekes. She wrote two books and if you took the time to read either one by googling her name.....you will begin on the road to recovery.I bought my last copy off EBay for a friend. It took me two years to turn my chronic anxiety state round because I had every disease going.I am Now 61 and fly 10 times a year without any problems. When my anxiety started back in 1984 I couldn't walk more than 10 yards and went from 11 stone down to 9.Now I walk miles most days, I still get stressed and feel anxiety creep into situations but now I recognise when it starts and put in my antidote of floating and reducing tension.Give it ago and get your life back.

Thank you cirnthe response! I'm on lexapro for the fourth day. So far I get little hints, but that might just be me thinking it's helping. Doc said it can take about 6 weeks to see the effects. I'm hoping it's a short term fix when combined with the therapy. But, if not then I'll just take meds. I'll keep on trying, and Thank you for the positive mention. Being positive is a huge part of recovery I think
