I was on quite a high dose of fluoxitine and I had the exact same thing! It made me a complete insomniac I couldn't sleep and if I did I'd wake up all the time. The thing is with fluoxitine it is quite an energising anti depressant. I was on it for 5 month and I have to say my sleep did improve once my body adjusted aswell as the hot flushes. I'd give it a few weeks before worrying to much your body will adjust... But if it's concerning you and if your hot flushes get worse or you get more symptoms id go see your gp for a chat. But from experience I've been on a lot of anti depressants and generally symptoms do quieten down. If you get really sleep deprived try some sleep relaxation techniques, lack of sleep can contribute to depression and you don't want to get into a horrible circle.... I was put on sleeping pills for a short while just to help get over the rough patch.

Although fluoxitine helped me alittle it didn't really touch my depression that much I'm now on venaflaxine which has put me back to my old self with zero side effects. it's a very good anti depressant and I did a hell of a lot of research on it. I hope fluoxitine does the trick for you though!! Don't be scared to talk to your gp  if you do have any more concerns down the line no matter how small. It really is important to get these things right when it comes to the mind! Xx

I've been on these for 24 days and get very hot in bed and find it hard to sleep. I understand they take weeks to work so testing my patience.

Yes it's horrible but I am keeping going with encouragement from others who say it will pass and then will feel much better. I might have given up otherwise. I'm new to antidepressants so never knew they took weeks to work.
