Binaural Beats For Anxiety Sufferers

My 2 cents on this fairly new phenomenon, and if it helps with anxiety...

The idea that listening to certain music can in fact boost your immune system and help anxiety might sound a little crazy, but the science in fact backs it up. Soothing music is known to decrease the levels of the stress hormone cortisol. The state that people find themselves in while listening to soothing music leads to psychological changes, which eventually lead to stress reduction and direct immune enhancement.

Now what if we combined that soothing sound with what is now known as binaural beats, first of all what is binaural beats? Binaural beats have been researched for almost 170 years, as we know the human brain goes through many frequency cycles everyday. The different frequencies produce different effects to the human consciousness, using this information it's been discovered that the brains receiving and operating frequency can in fact be altered by sound waves.

Binaural beats are what you hear when two separate tones are heard in each ear, when you have headphones on for example and in the left ear you hear a nice steady tone playing, and in the right ear another tone starts playing that is slightly higher in pitch then the first tone, your brain then perceives a rhythmic beat which may sound like quick waves as it mixes the two sounds together.

Binaural beats have been shown to entrain the brain into many different states depending on the “frequency” of the binaural beats, the frequency is measured in hertz or Hz. Try it for yourself with a relaxing guided meditation in the background. Enjoy and share your feedback - youtube.com/watch?v=cfVPQWp...

This makes sense, we know that massage can be very relaxing and help reduce stress levels, essential oils and incense and been used to help reduce stress as well so why can't the same thing be done with sound. :-D

I have used certain songs because of their rhythm to help me reduce stress and anxiety as well as keep my focus when I was a competitive archer. :-D

Also some of the mantras that are used in mediation could be doing the same thing as binaural beats. :-D

I will definitely give this a try, I have been taking 40mg of Citalopram for 8 or 9 weeks now, I seem to have a few weeks of feeling "not too bad" but since yesterday (Tuesday 1st March 2016) the feelings of being on edge & tense have creeped back in! I'm hoping they will subside again & soon. If you or anyone else can offer any advice I'd be grateful to hear from you. Thank you.

If you search u tube there are quite a few with no voices at all, just the beats. They are very good IF you use them regularly. Also the subliminal ones are excellent, just music ( the words they say are printed so you know what's being said) loads to chose from ,so you just find one with music you like.Don't know if anyone else is the same (?) But my big problem if doing anything to help myself as I'm in a fog most of the time and focusing on anything is a major effort.. But perhap thats a whole new post!!
