I suffer from a few ailments Physically and Mentally and I know Meditating has helped with all except pain in hip.
I took up meditating after living with PTSD for decades . Years ago back in my 20s I was kept being to learn to relax but I felt relaxed and didn't think learning to relax would help but boy was I wrong and because I didn't learn to relax I drank booze and took drugs to escape the pain the fear of daily living but after a while Drugs and alcohol didn't work and in the end I broke I snapped hurt myself and others. Ruined lives and lost family and friends and my health took a nose dive . So anyone suffering daily with stress and anxiety please take up Meditating it will help .Don't do as I did and try and cover it up with chemicals because the brain will win and it will react in ways that will be out of your control . You have been warned.
I know a few men in prison doing life sentences today because they hit the alcohol and drugs because they didn't ask for help or listened to wiser people. Sad thing is stress is not seen as a serious mental health condition but stress can make people do unspeakable things.

You have written some very wise words, 777... Sometimes, it seems, that people just have to learn the hard way...
What I also wish that people would realize is its NOT JUST STREET DRUGS that are 'bad for you.'
I am the first to say that there ARE times when the Rx drugs are helpful and appropriate at times and people are very thankful for them....and that can be all good.
But the long term 'answers' one is looking for will not be found in them... they are only good as a temporary crutch... and not a 'saving grace.' This is why so many people go through SO many different kinds of Rx's...
I am still a real advocate for talking with a therapist/counselor (and yes, it has to be the right match)... AND meditation is really tops... Many people are so afraid to 'face themselves and their thoughts' when they quiet down...but if done right, meditation has a way of allowing us to see and then FREE them. They go along well with alternative supplements (my opinion) OK. Written enough!
I just wish our young would take Meditation on board because anxiety disorders is spreading like Bubonic plague . Don't like to see so many suffering. I know Meditation isn't the key but man it can help in so many ways including strengthening the mind. ☺.
