Don't be afraid! I was to the point of sever agoraphobia so bad that I was becoming paranoid and terrified of everything. At some point I had to finally take the Zoloft and ativan given to me because I realized if I didn't , I was going to go down a very long bad road. I've had a bad reaction to a antidepressant before and it sucks but not as bad as living everyday suffering with panic and anxiety does when it's bad. Try it honey it could change your life. Ativan and Zoloft and eventually just Zoloft has changed mine ...its been 3 years since I started and I'm now afraid of not being on it.

I know. You know what? I still have the dizzy unsteady feeling. For years. I've done MRIs CT scans ER visit after ER visit. But nothing ever found. I did start keeping track on a period app of daily symptoms and guess what? They always attack me at the same time of my cycle. Imagine that. Thousands of dollars in tests and it seems I have a hormonal flux happening. You will be fine. Don't be afraid to better your life!

Hello Panda.

My psychiatrist wants me to try Zoloft. I was on Cymbalta for a while but was using Tramadol as well for chronic pain. As a result, I developed really bad Serotonin Syndrome, so I had to stop the Cymbalta. It was a nightmare coming off it. Severe nausea for 7 days.

I currently use 1mg Ativan a day for panic and anxiety. I'm wondering how much Ativan were you taking and what if any side effects did you experience from the Zoloft?

I was on Lexapro for 2 days and then stopped due to extreme dizziness, which I was already suffering from. Thank you in advance for your reply.

Zoloft saved my life. I was taking half a .5mg ativan as needed a day for a month then I started taking the Zoloft and only taking the ativan when I really needed it and exercising/walking. It was hard at first but once I felt I was okay and leveled on thezZoloft I started tapering off the ativan. The Zoloft helped the underlying serotonin level problem which made it comfortable enough to start using just the linden method via earphones on daily long walks/gym time. I still have to take a quarter of an ativan maybe once every couple months but the Zoloft and linden method/exercising changed my life.

Thank you so very much for responding! I'm currently on one 5mg diazepam morning and night. Was on a higher dosage for most of the year. I've been using the Ativan for 6 days since the diazapam wasn't helping. I was on a higher dose of diazepam but foolishly tapered off myself.

I have used Ativan in the past also on higher doses. I no longer wish to use it. It actually frightens me now, but I honestly thought it would help with vertigo and generalised anxiety 24/7.My GP was HUGELY reluctant to prescribe it since she didn't didn't want to upset my Psychiatrist. am on a cancellation waiting list to see him. Again. My mood swings daily, and then of course there's the daily panic and anxiety. I feel like I'm in hell since I also have chronic back pain and sciatica.

What really upsets me is that this will potentially be the third year and also Christmas in a row where my family have all been affected by my physical and mental illness. Having said that, your response gives me hope and for that i am eternally grateful. Fingers crossed that I'll be able to tolerate the side-effects of Zoloft whilst I implement alternative self-care methods. Am at a point where I don't want to leave the house since I'm either in constant pain and thus anxious and panic - stricken.

Thank you and best wishes.

Of course! If diazepam isn't relieving the symptoms its time to switch it up. There was even a small period before the Zoloft my anxiety was so bad I couldn't sleep or leave the house and they had to put me on the lowest dose of risperdal antipsychotic to make my thoughts stop long enough to sleep. It sometimes is all a test and trial....but I didn't care what label I had I wanted to get better for myself no matter what it took and not be a burden to my parents anymore. Do whatever it takes! Fight! You will make it through!

Hi Trish,

Prozac is one of the most popular, most commonly prescribed of all the SSRI's.... I wish it would have worked for me...but turns out I was simply allergic to it... a couple of members of my family have used it with great success. It's nothing you need to be afraid of...I am sure you will be alright...

Good luck to you... you do need to give it time to work...sometimes up to two weeks... but hopefully your dr told you that. :)

Take care, BettyA

I'm telling you guys long walks and playing the linden method in some earphones and doing CBT anxiety/phobia workbooks +nightly meditation/yoga is a life changer. It works on all points of ur life. Mental spiritual physical and emotional. The linden method costs money but its the best investment I ever made. He really got me to believe it was all a thought in my head I had the abilitytto defeat. It even comes with deep meditation mp3s and pep talks...its amazing you also have access to counselors and email groups 24/7
