Does anyone else find themselves quick to write another person's symptoms off as anxiety and comprehend how it could easily be anxiety, but then once you try to apply it to yourself, it suddenly seems impossible? I have been dealing with this for....seven months? And I had anxiety before that which I realize NOW. But I'm still having difficulty convincing myself it is anxiety. I haven't had a doctor tell me what my problem is, nor have I ever been rushed to the ER. The closest I ever came to that was my second panic attack. I've only seen a nurse practitioner but had everything done. I saw her during a period when I couldn't even move off the couch. I was on the couch all day and thought I had to have something wrong. And then to hear there's nothing....

But I still don't know how to accept it! Anyone got any ideas?

Here's a list of every symptom I've had:

Depersonalization

Derealization

Dizziness

Light headedness

Jolting awake

Difficulty breathing

Difficulty concentrating

Some areas of my body feeling wrong or foreign

Memory issues

Scary thoughts

Staring into space

Nausea

Heavy stomach

Pressure in temples

Tight band around head

Tight band around chest

Heavy head

Loud heartbeat

Holding my breath

Flu symptoms

Sweaty hands

Burning skin

Feeling chilled

Weight loss

Feeling wasted

Brain zaps

Difficulty sleeping

Nocturnal panic attacks (same as jolting awake)

Fear of going crazy

Body tremors

Shakiness

Sweating

Flushed face

Sensitive hearing

Ringing in ears

Weird smells

Excess saliva

Depth perception feels off (this is apparently very common)

Variations of difficulty breathing

Feelings of weakness

Vivid images of what I fear

Dizziness when lying down (though that could be due to herbs I was on, but I don't know)

Skipped hearbeats

Tired eyes

Fears ranging from diabetes to brain problem

I think I missed a few. Some of these symptoms have lasted just a day, a couple weeks, or have stayed with. The only continuous symptom I deal with is DP, otherwise it changes. So if anyone has questions on how to deal with some of these symptoms, I'd be happy to help.

Iv got one no matter what your mind or brain tells you that your not sleepy when trying to sleep its not haveing any of it even with takeing a sleeping pill to help you go asleep it make it not work at all or if is starting to workyou fill like you dieing when your trying to breathing and its slowing down is that panic anxkiety

in reply to england

Yup. I've had difficulty sleeping when I'll be tired but as soon as I try to go to sleep, I suddenly can't. Nocturnal panic attacks are when you jolt awake or wake to feel like you are dying. I used to jolt awake when I felt like I was being smothered and couldn't breathe.

Oh, also add flinching to the list.

I know exactly what you mean. I have a nutritionalist and tests and everyone keeps telling me it's anxiety, but how do they know if they aren't experiencing exactly what I am? At least that's how my worry cycle starts again. I feel like I have no body. Like my brain is disconnected from it.

Same exact thing. I feel like I don't have a body. It's super weird. Like I'm just consciousness.

Hello

I think it is so easy to talk the talk as we say but it is walking the walk that is the most important yet so hard to do when it comes to doing it yourself but maybe that is the area where so many of us need to look at what we are saying to others & then keep practising our own advice until slowly we learn to make it part of our everyday thinking to & the plus side is we can then help others even more if we have been there done it & come out the other end ...easier said than done I know but can be done with small steps & a lot of patience with ourselves ...x

I used to go to the doctors all the time as a teenager with symptoms such as tiredness, dizziness, headaches etc and I also had anxiety so instead of carrying on with medical testing they sent me to CAMHs (Child and adolescent mental health) for anxiety. 3 years later when symptoms get worse it turns out I had a b12 deficiency the whole time. Oops.

It didn't get rid of my anxiety but it got rid of the other symptoms. Have you been tested for b12? The problem you have is that a lot of doctors say its not deficient even though you are and the reference ranges are too wide. For example most reference ranges for b12 are around 150-1000 when actually experts say that symptoms are likely at around <300. Most of the time doctors wait to treat until its 100 :/

See if you've been tested for this and actually find out what the numbers are as its possible you could have this. If you go to the Pernicious anemia society on this website they have some great advice.

Heres a full list of symptoms:

I was told I had anxiety back in May after my first attack. The doctor tested me for a bunch of stuff including B12 and nothing so she put me on Zoloft. I was on it until November when I decided to come off of it and I have recently been having 'episodes' including-dizziness, fatigue, chest discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea... and went back to the doctor. She tells me its a B12 deficiency but hasn't checked me since May of last year! This is why I lose respect for some doctors, I feel like if it was truly a deficiency it should've been addressed in May. Instead, I was told it was anxiety. My number back in May was at 271 and she never discussed anything about it to me as in if it was a deficiency or not. Lately the symptoms last almost all day/night and it's driving me nuts! When I first had the occurrence in May, I seriously thought I was dying, went to the ER 3 times, multiple tests that I had to ask my doctor for and everything came out normal. It's so frustrating

I know! I had everything checked in July! I went to a practitioner and asked her to specifically check B12 and iron.

And she looked at me like she had no idea why I was there! Her answer? "Eat more greens."

I have had every single one of these symptoms and have been in and out of the doctor with them telling me its just anxiety ... nothing seems to offer me full relief from it but I haven't died yet so im guessing that's all it is..
