Hi everyone, I'm new to this as from now, I saw it on a website and thought I'd give it a go.
I am seventeen years old and I am terrified of dying in my sleep.
I have been diagnosed with depression and anxiety but my medication have not helped with my sleep issues.
It's ruining my life, I'm ill all the time because I'm so tired,I can't pursue a career because I can't physically get out of bed until around 1/2 in the afternoon.
I don't want to feel like this, I want to be a normal teenage girl.
I know it sounds silly but I can sleep through the day as long as it's light out and I know there's people awake in the house and I can also sleep a little bit better when I'm with someone even because I feel safe and I feel that someone will stop me from dying some how even though I know deep down if I'm going to die no one will be able to do anything.
I have no major illness's that can cause me to die in my sleep, I don't know where this fear came from
can anyone help?

You aren't going to die in your sleep. Being a teenager, your body has a lot going on. You are a child but yet you are an adult, or at least a pre-adult. There's all kinds of chemical, mental, and physical things changing for you. When i was your age, I too could sleep non stop for long periods. This continued into early adulthood. I nearly needed a siren for an alarm clock to wake. I would have to force myself out of bed to go to class or work.
I hope you can at least find some relief on here talking about it..
Dying in your sleep is not going to happen at your age ,it is however the subject of your anxiety.Meaning if you suffer from anxiety, you can hav General anxiety disorder, or you unknowingly choose a subject, social, phobias, health etc. when you deal with anxiety thro melds or psychotherapy this will lessen, and if you understand it is only the subject of your anxiety it will disappear.........take care
I do feel for you honey. You are so young, you shouldnt allow yourself to worry like this. Can the symptoms be part of M.E? I had a friend in the police force and he was off work for sometime with similar symptons from what I remember. He has since retired, moved to France, was married and enjoyed life most of the time. Please keep your doctor informed of how you are coping or not, and see if a support club or similar is available.
Please get strong and enjoy life and a wonderful career, whatever you choose.
