Hi.

You can control anxiety but it is hard and you need help to do it. Have you had any counselling that is useful.

Hey Kenny, yeah I'm seeing a counsellor soon! Thankyou for reply xx

Hi Pink

What help are you getting if you don't mind me asking & if you are not getting any you really need to see your GP , if you are & anxiety thoughts are taking over so much it would be a good idea to go back & see the GP as maybe the treatment you might be getting is not helping as much as it should be

You are very young & I believe as you have recognized you have anxiety you have a real positive outcome in changing your way of thinking & overcoming this

But in answer to your question I started with anxiety round your age maybe even sooner & when I did there was no where to talk or get support like there is now & it did & can still now if I don't watch myself take over every thought & the more it does the more it builds up , so what I do is when these thoughts pop in my head I see them for what they are or try to & that's not reality but anxiety , I try & push them back out & exchange them for a nice thought , focusing on something that makes me feel happy , its not easy when you are trying to change your way of thinking as thinking negative becomes a habit that is hard to break but the more you practice the easier it gets

Look round today is there something you could do to keep yourself occupied , paint your nails , sort out your bedroom lol go for a long walk maybe anything to try & distract you it would all help , if you are stuck I have a pile of ironing I could send you :-D

Hey Whywhy ;) I've seen my gp, I was on medication for a bit but hated it so I've stopped in in a waiting list of a counsellor he referred me to though :) it has got a lot better but I just don't want it at all :/ yeah I've always been known as the worrier in the family but anxiety only got bad when I was about 15, thankyou for your advice you're a massive help! Hmm I think you should send me you're ironing because today I've already cleaned my bedroom and the rest of the house so nothing else I can clean aha and done the washing! but I'm bored now ;)xx

Hi Pink

I am pleased you have seen your GP , you are quite young for taking medication even though I know it differ's from each individual under their GP'S supervision , but I can totally understand why you felt you needed to come of them

I have never took meds for my anxiety , that is my personal choice though & I do believe & their are a lot of members that have over come their anxiety using different methods as like you waiting to see a counselor , maybe you could inquire where you are on the waiting list , sometimes if we have a goal insight that can be a help like knowing when aprox we are going to get an appointment

Oh you have been a busy bee , you should feel proud of yourself doing all that , not many 16 year olds would help out like you have today & I am sure that has been a huge help for your Mum :-)

When we are left with nothing to do that can be when are minds start going into over time so you need to keep occupied somehow to stop you been bored lol

Hey ;) yeah I've never liked taking medication not even painkillers so when he said that I was like oh no I tried them but only on them for about a month hated it! Yeah i seen him about it he said soon so shouldn't be too much longer! Yeah cleaning keeps me busy so I do it a lot but mums been at work all day so when left alone my anxiety goes mad so trying not to stop! Aha going to go out with mates now to stop me worrying, hopefully do something to calm me down ;)! Thankyou for your advice you really so know what to say xx

Hi Pink

I can't blame you , I am not one for to many tablets either unless it is really necessary :-/

Its really good that you are helping your Mum while she is at work & at the same time it helps you with your anxiety :-)

I am really pleased to read you are going out with your friends & hope you have a lovely time :-)

Just a little idea , what about keeping a diary

I don't mean one where you put say Oh today I walked past the fittest boy ever lol

But one that you could write how you have felt during the day with yourself & your anxiety

So like today it would read maybe that while you were busy cleaning you had little anxiety but when you stopped then you started to feel anxious

Then it may read went out with friends & had no anxiety & so on

So when you are feeling anxious you can read it & see clearly that there is a pattern to when you feel anxious & maybe when you are feeling the fear that then creates anxiety reading this might help to calm you down as you will see it has happened before & you were fine & started to feel ok again :-)

I don't know if this makes any sense & maybe you already do this but I do know it can help so many that do :-)

Yeah only foud a few things that really help, it's annoying because for me I cant do the breathing exercises etc it makes me worse keeping myself busy works well or going out with mates, going to parties just to forget everything for a night! Although I heard smoking and alcohol makes it worse but it really helps so its hard to know how to deal with it :/ diary sounds like a really good idea! Definately think I'll start it! Thankyou Whywhy massive help xx

Hi Pink

The breathing can be really difficult to get the hang of but don't worry , maybe now & again practice when you are not feeling to anxious , I found that helped me master it rather than trying to do it when I was in a full blown panic !

Also there is a really old fashioned method of breathing in & out of a Paper bag ( note I said paper & Not plastic ) that is a really easy way to control your breathing when you feel anxious , you can still get them when you buy something in a shop , or if you asked they would maybe even give you a few , worth a go

Did I read 16 & did I then read drinking & smoking :-/

Believe me drinking isn't the answer , I know it may make you feel relaxed for a short while & maybe then you feel like you think everyone else feels but when it is wearing of it can make your anxiety worse , so be careful

And smoking , oh I know you wont listen because at your age neither did I & now it is one of my biggest regrets ever picking up a cigarette , it can lead to been addicted to the flipping things like I am , costs you money you could spend on other things worth having & most importantly it really does start to affect your health as you get older , you don't think it will but believe me it does , so if you can give the cigarettes some thought when you think you want one , because I wish back when I was 16 I had never touched one as now no matter how hard I have try I cant give them up even though I know they do all those things :-o

Hope you are enjoying your evening :-)

Or should I say the hope that it will end is always with me... For me I would say It's like having a broken leg that takes too long to heal.. I'm the same :/ starting to get help now but it's taken a while, just wish it didn't have to be on my mind all day! Thankyou for reply xx

Occasionally my anxiety will take over but with the help of my counselor, I am learning to control it but it is sometimes to hard to control it and it does take time and its taken me 6 months to try and control it for it to show at the most awkwardest times (when I am sitting in my lessons and the teachers ask me a question)

I suffer with anxiety and my health worrying is bad , I worry about my heart race constantly always checking it and thinking its to high also i get pains in my arms and automaticaly think i am having a heart attack , anxiety controls me , I have somewhat learned to understand how i am and it controls my thoughts on a daily basis, I worry about everything but i just have to deal with it , I have been on many meds right now i take sertraline and propranolol because my heart rate , I used to have adrenaline feeling when i breathed in and out every breath i took and it was a daily feeling every minute and the sertraline has took that away basically

I went on propranolol and got a pain in my wrist and stopped taking them stupidly and ended up with my hear banging through my chest because if you stop them suddenly it can mess up your heart rate and send it sky high and thats what happened along with a panic attack and i ended up in hospital and now i am back on the meds

But now i am scared to come off propranolol because that happened and i don't think i need to be on propranolol tbh i am 24
