Can I get hold of my scans on computer disc?

Some years ago I had an echocardiogram & a carotid scan, & I`m wondering if I can get a copy of them on computer disc. Would my doctor let me have them, or are these things confidential?

My friend had an echocardiogram done last summer and his doctor give him a copy of it on DVD so I'm sure they can give you these things xx

Anyone can request their medical records.

To get a copy of your scans you can access these under the Data Protection Act (Subject Access Request) normally there is a admin fee (max £50) for requesting such data. You can do this by contacting your local NHS trust. I doubt your GP would have access to these files especially if the procedures are done at the main hospital.
