The morning after my first Rampiril tablet.

Hi Everybody I wrote a post yesterday about the challenges I faced with taking a new medication. It got to 10.30pm yesterday evening and I knew that I had to take my first Rampiril tablet for my blood pressure. I had had 24 hr bp monitoring which averaged my bp to be 150/94. A part of me just wanted to get it over with and another part was really anxious. I was told by my GP I would after taking the first tablet have the side effect of feeling dizzy and perhaps have a tickly cough. I was told to take my tablets last thing at night. Since being prescribed with Rampiril I read up on the drug as I wanted to know a bit more about what I was taking. I worried myself over the long list of possible side effects. I had been stewing over them during the day.

While in bed immediately after taking the tablet I felt my pulse race and was concerned that I would have a full blown panic attack. However, my pulse and anxiety started to subside and I began to feel calmer. I could not get to sleep but did not seem to be feeling any bad side effects from my medication. I have a small stock of diazpram tablets for emergencies. I took a 2mg tablet and started to relax and drifted off to sleep. I woke up a few times in the night but managed to get back to sleep reasonably easily. I did get a bit of a sore throat during the night... I have had a cold on and off.

I woke up at 8am this morning. I have felt a bit anxious. I obviously have to take my tablet again tonight. Is there anything that you can think of that I can do to make it a bit easier tonight.

Very best wishes and have a great day.

Mark

I'm sorry that you're getting anxious about this treatment, I don't think there's any need to. The medication is there to help you, not to harm you. You shouldn't feel any different after taking the drugs... Did you check that you can take diazepam with ramipril? I would check that out, if you're feeling at all odd then that may be the cause.

As I said on my comment on your previous post, I take tablets for my bp and the only side effect is a tickly cough, this took weeks to emerge as the medication builds up over time, I believe.

Please take some time to read up on mindfulness, this may help you with your anxiety generally; some relaxation would also help your bp.

Hope you feel better soon x

Hello

I can understand how you feel over the BP tablets

I started getting high BP when I was only in my early thirties ,it does run in the family so dont no if that had anything to do with it or not

As I wasnt very old they did give me a couple of years to see if it would go down as like you I was afraid of meds

Well it didnt & I kept resisting till the doctor said , you are in more danger if you dont take them than you ever will be if you do !

That frightened me as I no what she was saying , so like you she started me on the lowest dose & we built on it

I have changed them twice over the years as the first ones were not giving me massive side effects but I wasnt happy on them

Eventually I found one that seems to suite me

See how you go on , one tablet I doubt will give you any side effects , it was a few weeks before I got any with the first ones that I didnt take to ,but IF & it is an IF they really dont suite you there are several they can try you on

As for the side effect leaflet , I dont read them now , they have to list every single thing that gets reported , even if its one person complained & thats what we tend to miss when we read these leaflets , it can be one person in so many thousands had that side effect but instantly we panic thinking it will be us & forget to look at the odds which would read , very slim indeed

Let us no how you go on

Hello

I can see this message you have put , but no recent posts on here

I no you will be , but if you are a member on here & depression , double check you are on here when you are doing your post , as it sometimes can look like you are one site when you are still on the other site , if that makes any sense

We will find you though even if you have to put it on someone elses post for now :-)

Its been a couple of weeks I think you have been on these meds

Maybe see what you feel like by the end of next week & if you are feeling no better go back & tell them , they may need adjusting

Having said that though its surprising how one more week on them & you could be feeling so much better :-)

You are doing so well , I hope you realize that :-)

Love
