Vitamin D

In the past when I was feeling really ill, flu like symptoms, pain and muscle twitching, it was because of low vitamin D. The older generation may remember rickets, well this has made a comeback. If any of you have these symptoms it may be worth having a blood test done.

Oh dear Holly , this made me read on

Well at last , I must be young as no I dont remember rickets , but have read & seen it on TV , so thats given me a boost in a way to read something I cant remember because I wast old enough :-/

There will be a rush on now with all the HA suffer's going for blood tests , just incase

I have had similar feelings with this sinus problem , feeling like flu , aching , temp , I have been like it 10 years , which is getting a worry , I have to be honest , dont think it will be rickets though after all this time , even though my head says its loads of other things , & after I told the GP , antibiotics make my hair grow , I dont think I will go & mention could I have rickets , think she will have me taken away if I go with anything else :-/

Hope you have a good day :)

Oh Whywhy, you do make me smile. I must admit I'm thinking do I need some vitamins and what foods have vitamin d in? Xxxx

in reply to

Well Winter , at one stage I had more vitamins than Holland & Barrett's :o

Then I got afraid to take them , then I read that some feel they dont do you any good & I got all in a flap & dont take anything now

Maybe as you say , if we sit outside 20 mins a day & get daylight we will be ok :)

I'm the same with vitamins, I've got 3 huge bottles in the cupboard. I took 1 and had a really weird dream. So I've refused to take anymore!!!! Xxx

HI Holly50, interesting post, I have heard of rickets but only as in the watching the secret garden few years back lol. Im going to resist the urge to google as tomorrow I will have them :) xx Donver

Hi Holly,

That's really interesting. I know children are at risk due to the over protective parents who won't let their children have any skin open to the sun, covered in sun block and clothes. It is recommended that you need about 20mins sun in summer to raise your vit d. The further north you go the more you need a supplement.

I didn't know any symptoms though! Xxx

There's not much sun up here at the moment. Not many foods have vit in it

There doing a big study on it. There saying there is a possibility that it is linked to diseases such as MS

in reply to

Ooh interesting x I think a lot of problems are maybe cause by vitamin deficiency and such. Im in the north so we don't get much sun here lol x so i'm buggered that way. I do eat petit filous which claims to be enriched with vit d so i may be lucky:)

Oh Meg

I try not to read to much what they are saying , they are always coming up with something new & if I read & listened to it all it would make me worse , they always seem to think there is a link to everything

One week you shouldnt eat eggs because they are no good for cholesterol , then the next time you look they have done studies saying you should eat loads because they have found they are good for it & on it goes

I wait till they can say for sure that these studies are right , not just they think

I hope you havnt let it worry you , this is what scientists do for a living , but I think personally till they are sure , they should keep it to themselves :-/

That's , what I thought. I like them lol, I had vitamin D check earlier this year as I also get the flu and aching, with pain symptoms, vitamin D was ok. I put these symptoms down to anxiety/stress, but no harm in eating some of that, I drink loads of milk, however my calcium is up slightly has been for 5years , and due to the hosp meeting that daughter and son went to on Thursday , about artery, that has got to be checked again, as it the para hormone gland, which seem to produce hour calcium, and mine was producing to much 5years ago just a tad, but it seems, that I may have to have that gland removed :( as for the artery , got to go next Friday to see vascular surgeon, hospital has admitted fault, on the fact that it was found in 2011, and the doc who found a flow issue, which would effect my head, however used his discretion , and said no further investigation needed, !!! and I was sent away from the hospital with this , as you no. Now a consultant from that hospital is taking over, he said that he would have looked into the flow issue further given a scan showed the artery was blocked. Conveniently the doc who found this originally in 2011 and left it, has left the hospital.

Looks like I am going to have to have further scans on this again, and have had two lots this year already, :(

Sorry about the long post, but thought update you on this as you no about it .

Thanks to my younger daughter putting complaint in to the hospital, and after there 8 week investigation at there end, looks like it may now soon get sorted, will be a worry less, even though I don't want to go through it. :(

Anyway now I hope you are good, seen post you went shopping, and hairdressers, well done you, you must be very pleased, i am proud of you going out as you did :) hope that was in positive Fridays post . Glad you like your hair this time as well, that's how I want mine choc brown with highlights through , maybe get there one day for it .

Love
