Hi

Its a medication that helps you to relax

It can be addictive , so sometimes , its only used short term

But I myself have taken it for years

Diazepam is another name for Valium. Its a Benzodiapzepine tranquiliser, and a highly addictive one. Many UK GP's will not prescribe it any more and some may prescribe it for a limited time only. Although it is highly effective for reducing or eliminating anxiety I would advise to take it ONLY when you actually need it as when you feel a panic attack coming on. If you become addicted to it it will be very hard to come off them and some people have experienced pretty horific withdrawel symptoms.

My mother and my sister were on this for many years. In the end they both came off it voluntarily. My sister said her anxiety levels decreased afterwards and my mother had horrific side effects even when cutting down gradually. I have heard it is very addictive and I am not sure whether most doctors are happy to prescribe it now. Apparently there are newer and better drugs available than this. I would never take if after my family's experiences.

Very addictive, my GP won't let me have. I think it's good for emergencies and whilst other meds kick in. Hope this has been of some use
