Found something to help with sleeping.

(Sorry if any of my words cause discomfort or distress to others.)

After all the uproar on here lately, i'm finding it hard to wind down so i needed a plan..

I might be later than everyone else on discovering this, but i went to the health food shop and explained i had a job getting to sleep and they suggested lavender essential oil.

I've often used it under my childrens pillows but never my own (i dont know why either). Well...i works. It chills you out and i fell into a deep restful sleep.

I wanted to share this tip as with everyone as people are picking fault in each other here lately and reporting for every little comment. I feel it's causing more distress than talking about things would. I hope others can use a relaxing method thats works and might find some comfort within themselves. I know i have i'm not going to rise to all the tittle tattle any more.

Lavender oil has been known as a soother for many years. When I was a little baby my mother also used to sprinkle a little on my pillow at bedtime and I was born in 1939.

What worries me dear though is that you seem to speak with a little bitterness and sarcasm. You mention picking fault and tittle tattle.

I have just joined this site to try and get some help for my anxiety but now I am not so sure.

Thank you for you kind words. Do you have any meditation music you could listen to.? I find it can relax me a bit, I no it don't work for everybody but can be worth a try. If you haven't is there someone that could get you one, or are there other things you like to do that helps?, Keep me posted.

No, no, no oldmaid. I didn't mean anything by it.

I was trying to help as in recent days i've found it very calming. There does seem to be some less than positive comments popping up on this site lately and i for one don't want to be a part of it, so thought i'd help others try to calm the way i have.

Welcome to the site by the way. I hope you find it as helpful as i have. There are some lovely, friendly people here always willing to help anyway they can. I'd be lost without this site and can not recommend it enough

Hi love iv been here awhile now and made grt friends. And people who will help you, welcome,I'd be lost without my friends on here

After reading your blog, I've just been out and bought a small bottle of lavender oil to try tonight :)

Do you just put a few drops directly onto a cloth, or the pillow case?

Hi Blorengia,

For the children i put one drop under their pillows as thats a mild smell but i found, as i lay on my front with my head to one side, i put a single drop on each side of the top of my pillow.

It really does work. Not sure how, but it does.

Good luck x

Hi Karen

Thought this was a good idea, then mentioned it to my O/H only to be told she can't breathe with the smell, and as it's beneficial to breathe that's out the window..........any other ideas

Sometimes Rob I also find that it can be somewhat beneficial to breathe. In fact my doctor told me I should do it every day!

lol well...lavender oil is not for you then.

My OH said the same actually. He has asthma ,so i was worried it would affect him badly but i think he's willing to take that risk, just for me to stop yapping and go to sleep.

Erm... give me a while and i'll have another think.

I am afraid that I am going to have to report this blog to Admin.I am an habitual sourpuss but some of these replies have caused me to almost smile.I understand that mirth is against company policy.Although I agree that lavender oil is very calming to most people I cannot allow it to be mentioned here as we might all fall asleep.

With the greatest of regrets

Aww Picknick you had me going then lol.

Yesterday, when I mentioned to a friend that I'd bought some lavender oil to try, she gave me an Avon 'Sleep Therapy' spray to try - it smells of lavender. I used it last night and I did sleep a bit better than usual, so I might try it tonight with a couple of drops of the oil as well. Luckily my OH hasn't got a very good sense of smell so it didn't bother him! :)

Unfortunately it didn't work for me last night as I only managed 4.5 hrs sleep but will continue to use it because it's pleasant.

Here's hoping for a longer night tonight.

Peace and hugs to all.
