Not only tinnitus but, much to my surprise, excess ear wax too can be caused by anxiety.

Yes ...Sometimes I get earwax falling out and funnily enough it's my left ear where the tinnitus occurs

Strange isn't it

I get tinnitus , but I don't no if its related to my anxiety or not , to be honest I have just come to accept I suffer with it

I will now though try & observe if it comes on or gets worse the more anxious I am

Also worth bearing in mind that, if prone to anxiety, more highly sensitised and more likely to notice symptoms that others may not notice... Recently found a couple of good books on dealing with anxiety/nervous illness by a Dr Claire Weekes - saw them recommended on this site and bought audio versions. Worth a look/listen - listen probably easier as can sink back and focus without distraction...

Yes. I had a nervous breakdown last year. I had tinnitus for 35 years previously in my left ear but it faded and was only noticeable very quietly at night , and not every night but I never gave it a thought.

The breakdown is what caused tinnitus to scream. I have seen ENT and audiology and been told by both the anxiety and stress on my system is what brought it on severely. If I can master the stress etc....then my tinnitus should fade again.

I have found it very hard to cope with anxiety but, at times I can feel ok.

Twice before my tinnitus soared and then faded again. It was in the months running up to the breakdown and both times was diagnosed as upper respiratory infections. However, the ENT specialist put them down to precursors to the breakdown.

It does quieten with relaxation and doing distracting things. Doing what you would normally do, getting out etc... I am a lot better than a year ago but when the tinnitus goes up I feel more anxious. The audiologist said tinnitus and anxiety can go hand in hand.

So yes, it can be related to anxiety. I hope you are coping. Xx
