The House Speaker, Kevin McCarthy, has just come to an agreement with U.S. President Joe Biden to fund the debt limit before the June deadline, avoiding the U.S. government defaulting and its ruining credit rating. I am sure this is a financial relief for all in the States.

I agree; the devil is in the details! At least they are coming to some resolution which I worried about, considering McCarthy has been such a weak leader. They have until June 5th, and Biden held the line on many things with no changes to Medicare or Medicaid.

I'm glad to hear Medicare and Medicaid are off the table, but I'm dubious of whether there are enough House Republicans that will be onboard for such a deal.

We know the crazy ones won't, but maybe there will be enough sane ones, and with the help of the Democrats; it should pass the House. All Biden wanted to do was hold the line; from what I have heard, he did that very thing. The vote in the House happens this Wednesday.

I haven’t a clue how to stifle bird noise. Ours are presently making the sounds of a smoke alarm. High pitched screaming. Bill is cooking something and they’ve learned that sometimes the alarm sounds. So they make it happen.

Yep....that's true .... otherwise it's an off-topic discussion that leads to WWIII here, seen it many times. HU has been very tolerant with most of the off-topic stuff over the last few months, which is fine because we need a bit of light heartiness here now and then for sure, but as with my previous family dinners....we are all so diverse, we keep politics and religion off the table of topics for discussion.
