Struggling with "what if" thoughts

I am thankful that the past two days I have been managing the physical symptoms of my anxiety better.

I've been working on "allow and accept" and repeating "fear is not danger and I am safe". It's still exhausting but at least it doesn't feel debilitating.

Today I am struggling more with the anxious thoughts.

...what if it stops working?

...what if I feel like this forever?

...what if it gets worse and I can't handle it anymore?

Does anyone have any advice on how to battle these anxious thoughts?

hi Kelsey- I’m glad you’ve been managing the symptoms and knowing they are not dangerous- just fear. You’ve felt those before and here you are! The “what ifs”- yup, we all know them! Same as the symptoms- fear/ lies, not truth or some sort of prophecy which we often tell ourselves. Do what you do with the symptoms- allow the thought to be there and talk back to it- FEAR taking, these are lies.

What you’re doing and practice will work.

You will not feel like this forever

You’ve handled it so far it will not become unbearable

Here for you 🤗

I do the same thing. When I have the "What If" thoughts I try thinking about something else or find something to distract me.
