I remember "Hootenanny"! Yay!

Lotsa new ones for me there too.

Yes. RIP. I was shocked she was 79 (!) when she died. People stay young in our mind, but the years steal away anyhow.

"Ong Ong" Fabulous video and hap-hap-happy music! Of course I'm stuck ID-ing the boids. It's a blast!

"Sounds cheerful" and "It is" melancholy? Hmm. You got some 'splainin to do. 😄

Wow what a collection! More than happy -- ecstatic.

I can't believe I missed "High Hopes". I can see the video in my imagination. Is my memory right... did he give one of the kids a fish-eye?

I guess I'm a weird-o, the sweater guy always grated on me. Almost as bad as the "I love you" dinosaur. I heard there was a "Kill Barney" game out there at one time. Yup, I get it.

Isinatra profile image
Isinatra in reply to Nothing_but_books

Gosh..I don’t know if Frankie gave the fish eye. Why am I thinking he did? I’ll give it a look see.

Lol…I prefer when Eddie Murphy sang the Neighborhood song on SNL. The sweater didn’t bother me as much. 😉

I've gotta see if Google will help me find it! Sounds perfect for me!

My favorite SNL was when Belushi did his Joe Cocker bit. I screamed!

Thanks! You can't leave too many tunes for me, but I don't think HU agrees.

Isinatra in reply to Nothing_but_books

HU? I don’t understand. It seems a few here and there are ok?

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_books in reply to Isinatra

I don't understand it, but a few members seem to have been threatened to stop posting songs or else... I don't know... nothing good. It doesn't make sense to me. To me, music seems a wonderful way to support each other.

in reply to Nothing_but_books

Sometimes I read a post on this forum and want to reply but can’t seem to get the right words out. Music speaks to me and I always can think of a song that would convey my support or advice better than my own words. Would love to just send a link to a song that fits the situation as a show of my support. I’d sure enjoy someone doing that for me 👍❤️

100% agree. 👍❤️

Fleeteood Mac - “Don’t Stop Thinking about Tomorrow”

Thanks mrmonk. That was very thoughtful of you.

You don't happen to know anything about Longines, do you? I'm trying to figure out if it explains a minor obsession of mine from the mid-sixties.

mrmonk profile image
mrmonk in reply to Nothing_but_books

I don't know anything about it firsthand, but this is from an annotation on the Genius webpage for the song:

"The Longines Symphonette was a prerecorded classical music program which was recorded and broadcast every day from 1943 to 1949.

The show was sponsored by a company named Longines, who at the time manufactured timepieces. Their company slogan was “It Doesn’t Rest”. Moreover, the Symphonette was what Longines called the clock-radio that they manufactured in in the 1970s."

Nothing_but_books profile image
Nothing_but_books in reply to mrmonk

Ya, I found that. Thank you for looking, but it didn't clear up my question.

"Longines" just rang a bell for some unknown reason.

I used to watch a show every Sunday when I was a kid. I remember pop classical music, and at the end of the show there'd be an opportunity to buy the music through the mail. I remember pieces like "l'apres midi d'un faun", Romeo and Juliet. I don't know if Longines was associated with the show, or if it's just a mind glitch. I'd love to know what it really was, and -- wow -- find those LPs I wanted so much when I was little.

Richard Crooks - Come Where My Love Lies Dreaming

Shirley Bassey - Goldfinger

I've Got You Under My Skin - Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons (Reminds me a lot of Ravel's Bolero)

This so timely. Today I created a new playlist on Amazon Prime music for songs that I want to sing to. I already have a playlist for music that makes me want to dance, and move.

Purpose : another tool to let sticky thoughts float on by ! To distract, then uplift me !

Btw, if you are on Amazon prime, you can get 90 days free trial. You can create playlists on that.

How about "Man in the Mirror" from Joyful Noise movie? (great movie !)

Paul Simon "You Can Call Me Al". Love it ! There is a utube... Here is an article that contains the cool utube. It explains the words in the song from real life situation...americansongwriter.com/you-...

"Amie" by Pure Prairie League.

"I'm Alright" (Theme from "Caddyshack") Kenny Loggins

Of the 8 songs so far, my playlist includes 2 songs already posted by other people above, Happy, and I Feel Good.

Great start !

"Betty when you call me you can call me Al." I love it!

Thank you for the movie recommendation, and the song list. A couple I don't know yet to give a listen.

May I offer a suggestion for your music to dance and move to list? My favorite get you off your butt song: "Come Dance With Me" by Frank Sinatra.
