they gave me Pepcid 40mg that isn’t doing anything I’ve taken Tums, mylanta both chews and liquid, ate bland diet. This heart burn is so bad it’s burning my throat have chest pains burping and coughing food up and I still have this fluid in my ears with intermittent dizziness and tiredness . Went to the urgent care and basically got told nothing we can do for you but here try Zofran and Carafate it may or may not help go to a gi specialist and ENT. And no one can tell me why my wbc is slightly elevated like am I sick with something or what, this is hell. Everything I eat I start burping parts of it up. I’m just curious if anyone has recommendations.

A healthy diet is not bland at all. You rejected a healthy diet the other day… that would be my suggestion. Exercise too.

Ignore.

I used to have a lot of heartburn. After my mom died, I gained a lot of weight which made the heartburn worse. So, I decided to lose weight. I have been working on it for months. Have lost a good amount of weight and I hardly ever have heartburn. I did not cut back on the food I love but I cut back my serving sizes. I use a kid's plate and that is all the food I eat in a meal, plus I do not snack. I drank mostly water other than one cup of coffee a day. It was not easy, in fact it was very hard, but the heartburn is pretty much gone.

Try to see a gastroenterologist and follow up with the ENT. I think, as I have said before, that it would be helpful for you to cover all the medical bases. This requires more than a gp can do. When you have checked everything thoroughly then I think you will be able to move on. Also, try to keep in mind that at your age any medical problems that may exist are not likely to be life threatening, although I understand that they are very upsetting and do absolutely need to be taken seriously and resolved.

Next time you visit your doctor, ask about sleeping patterns and the effect that can have on acid reflux and heartburn etc.

The position of the stomach opening to the esophagus can make a difference. Sleep on your opposite side. Dont go to sleep before food is digested may help. Burn the food energy off by taking evening walks.

I am not a doctor and can not prescribe these activities, but you can try them and confer with your physician to see if they are healthy choices

It does sound like acid reflex to me, I take meds for this and I was advised not to eat late at night, and to eat slowly and chew my food thoroughly

Hi Adam. Have you been to see a GI doc?? They may want you have an endoscopy to rule out gastritis if this has been going on a while. I have a history of upper GI stuff and have had several endoscopies. Hope you feel better!

Hi Adamj I had the same problems a few years ago , your problem is not too much acid . The problem is not enough acid and digestive enzymes. Your stomach has sort of a valve on top that opens and closes when you eat, it needs to detect a certain amount of stomach acid to close properly. Do your research and get some good quality digestive probiotics and some bromelain , this relieved my problem. Hope this helps you !

when I was having anxiety/digestion issues I did a bone broth fast for a couple of days which helped my digestion reset itself.

Adamj, your anxity, depression and heartburn may benefit from thiamine (vitamin B1) and magnesium plus vitamin D. Both thiamine and vitamin D require magnesium to become bioactive. The vagus nerve connects the gut, and lower esophageal sphincter valve to the brain. An activated thiamine deficiency will interfere with this system's proper operation. Anti thiamine factors diminish or destroy thiamine. High absorption derivative forms such as TTFD, benfotiamine and sulbutiamine offer better absorption through the blood brain barrier. While taking higher doses of thiamine several times a day it's important to use a B complex once a day, the B vitamins work better together. Likewise, magnesium threonate offers better absorption to the brain than other forms however the elemental magnesium in a serving won't meet your daily requirement so you'll need to include a form such as glycinate. It's best to take magnesium and thiamin with food. Finally, get a 25-hydroxy vitamin D test to check if you are deficient in vitamin D which may be involved with anxiety and depression. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.

I used to get bad heartburn but I took nexium for 4-6 weeks I think and it went away. I think it took awhile to start to work though. I get heartburn when I eat anything spicy but then just tums work.

Esophagus reflux maybe and if so it sounds like all that acid has eaten into the lining which is causing extreme pain. I’m sorry! Urgent care let you down. I believe it’s very important for you to get into see your primary care Dr asap in order to get a referral to a specialist.
