The dentist did it to me. My tooth, an upper back molar, suddenly cracked all the way through one night last week at home. I never felt any pain or infection previously, but a small piece came off when I was drinking something, so I went to my dentist. She had pulled a lower molar before and it wasn't too bad.
This time, it was a Very difficult and painful extraction last Thursday, and fairly early on, the dentist said, "oh shi*" under her breath as I had sudden intense pain when she began the hard pressure on the roots to break them and get the tooth out. (That's when the hairline jaw fracture happened). I got another shot that didn't do any good, but she couldn't stop because everything was exposed. A few minutes later, when she still couldn't get it out, she said, "Jesus" under her breath. It was awful. I envisioned her flying backwards off her chair the moment the tooth came free. I wanted her to fall and bash her head on something!! She said that my face up to my eye was turning black and blue, which didn't comfort me. She told me not to "move or make noises" because she had to "concentrate and move quickly".
I just tried to breathe while drowning on my own blood, despite the suction thingy. The helper was nice, and just kept talking in my ear, telling me to breathe.
Once the tooth broke free, she had all kinds of things to say, blaming my tooth, and blaming me for being "difficult". I asked her, "What the hell happened", and again, she blamed MY difficult tooth. An xray was then taken and I saw the jawbone fracture. I wanted my money back but she refused because she "performed the procedure and sometimes this happens".
It's over. I will never go back to her again. I was supposed to see her Friday so she could check me, but I got ZERO sleep and called her to say that I couldn't drive as a result. She insisted I come in, I repeated myself, and she said she was making a note in my chart that I was "non-compliant". I told her to "bite me" and she hung up on me. The End. I kept thinking that if she did this to a child, they would be traumatized for life! 😨 I NEVER want to go to a dentist again. I would be a total wreck! I would need someone on this site to go with me! OMG.

Yikes. A trip to the dentist should never be like that. There are many dentists out there who are professional and cater especially to those with dental-phobia. You can look up reviews on them.
As for your recent dentist, you may want to contact the dental board in your state if you have not already.
Hey DNQ, im so sorry you went through this experience. That is one of my phobias. Ha i dont really like any medical professions. I do go just because I need to. They always put the blame on the patient, dont listen when you try to explain and treat everyone the same. We are all different and all cases are different as well. I have a crown and oh boy did I suffered at the hands of the dentists. Today they want to replace it, so its more aesthetic and I am, “Noooooooo” unless there is something wrong. Again sorry, hope you are doing better.
Wow 😮! That’s awful. Is there any recourse with the dental board? She should make it right even if it isn’t her. Marking you non compliant…reminds me of a Seinfeld episode but not in a good way.
Firstly If you haven't already Paid, this 'Butcher' then Don't.... if you already have then make a Formal Complaint. I have to say that, as an Englishman, I have Absolutely NO Idea who you should Approach about this- but Approach 'them' you MUST.
My experience, some years back now, in my own Country.... was totally different. I was 'seen' by a Very Friendly, and knowledgeable, Asian girl. She was aware that I required 'Antibiotic Cover An Hour Before The Surgery'. (due to my Condition)
One Tooth came out, fairly easily.... most definitely WITHOUT any 'Cuss Words' from her. During the Second Extraction, there was a loud 'Crack'.... No NOT my Jaw, the Tooth. "Not To 'Worry'" she said cheerfully "I Have A Gadget For That". She placed 'something' that made a 'Funny' noise, a kind of 'werring' with A LOT of water and, after only a short time, BOTH remaining teeth were out!
I suffered Very Little Bleeding, form any of the removal 'sites', and Remarkably Little Pain afterwards either.
Now you know HOW IT SHOULD BE DONE, get 'onto' whoever Polices Dentists In Your Country. 'Pulled So Hard She BROKE Your Jawbone'.....WHAT! No Definitely Report this.

Make a report to your state dental licensing board and I recommend consulting a lawyer. Save any pictures you may have after her fracturing your jaw. Or take some if necessary. This is malpractice. You're not supposed to break the roots of a tooth; you're supposed to remove the tooth with the roots. She sounds dangerous. Make sure you see your medical doctor to check your jaw. Your doctor can testify for you.
That’s not a good dentist. Find someone else that can help you heal your mouth. The longer you delay seeing a new dentist the harder it can be to see a dentist. That fear becomes entrenched. It becomes harder to extinguish with time. I hope you are able to get in front of this and then past it. You don’t deserve to have this on your shoulders.I’m in the Midwest if there is anything I can help with.
She got the tooth out, including the roots. I saw it. I asked to keep it and she wouldn't let me, saying it was "biohazardous". As I did some research on Google, I found a site that says "hairline jaw fractures are a possibility with the extraction of a molar". I would never win a legal battle here, and I don't have the mental energy at this point. If I dispute the charge with Amex, she will come after me. I'm exhausted, broken, mad, and now fear any dentist. I hope the dental "PTSD" will pass. 😨
