Yes, it's like the post viral fatigue we feel after flu. Our body has become depleted in its fight against the invading Covid. It will pass and pass all the quicker if you set aside more time for rest. And healthy food, not processed.

So no need to worry, you are not alone in this, you will recover before too long. Do not let high anxiety exaggerate your symptoms into something more serious, which it is not. I wish you God's speed for your recovery.

Thank you for your response. Tell me more about your experience. I am under doctor’s care. I take walks everyday.

Jeff1943 in reply to Prius0831

It's all about depletion of nervous energy that occurs when our bodies are under attack from Covid viruses. Part of that depletion is physical, the other part relates to our nervous system. It takes time to recover our normal levels of energy.

It didn't leave me depressed, just very tired . In fact my anxiety levels were much reduced as I could sit around all day as an invalid and didn't have to deal with the worrisome problems of running my household. I was anxiety-free for several weeks so I guess I reacted differently to others.

Than you. Keep talking to me.

Jeff1943 in reply to Prius0831

That's the story, guess Covid affects people differently when it's over. In your case its early days, your being monitored by your doctor, I'm sure you'll be back to normal in a month. It's like post-natal depression if you don't mind the comparison, both events take a lot out of your body.

Incidentally I was among the first in the West to get Covid, I live in London, started to come down with it Christmas Day 2019. The week before I had visited 2 massive Chinese supermarkets with cafeterias where we ate. That's where i picked it up. No repetition since I've had 5 vaccinations for it. So has my 32 year old grandson but he's had it 4 times!

It's defo on the decline in the U.K. where all restrictions have been lifted, also declining in Europe.

Jeff, it’s so great to hear from you. You just do not know how helpful you are being to me. I am really enjoying the conversation with you. You sound like a medical professional. I hold a Ph.D., and handle many college students. I am married and live in Virginia.

Jeff1943 profile image
Jeff1943 in reply to Prius0831

Prius, no I am not a medical professional, just someone with 79 years of interest in health matters in general and anxiety disorder in particular.

So anything I say is my opinion only based on personal experience and observation not professional training.

I am less knowledgeable about depression except depression that is secondary to anxiety ie. people get depressed about having to face high anxiety every day.

I am a 'disciple' of Doctor Claire Weekes who in the 1960s developed a method for respite and recovery from anxiety disorder based on four 'protocols': Face. Accept. Float. Let time pass.

These 6 words have helped millions throughout the world to recover since she described it in her first book "Hope and help for your nerves". A tendency to high anxiety runs in my family so when in first hit me in 1974 I was lucky enough to read her book which still has a huge following.

Truly she has been called 'the woman who cracked the anxiety code'.

But none of this is really relevant to your problem of depression most likely temporary in nature due to the effect of physical depletion and nervous exhaustion following a dose of the Covid. I believe there is every reason to hope that your depression will soon yield under the care of your doctor.

I live in southern England, just old enough to remember the bombs falling on London in WW2.

Prius0831 in reply to Jeff1943

Jeff, thanks so much for giving me hope. You are a very intelligent person. I am doing as much as possible to confront the depression. I am under doctor’s care, and so far, I am sleeping well. I went to see a soccer game today, which I enjoyed. I say this, but I still feel empty inside. I am going out in about 20 minutes to walk with my wife and dog. Just trying!

Jeff1943 profile image
Jeff1943 in reply to Prius0831

Prius, just accept the fact that you will feel depression and these other bad feelings for a while after Covid for the reasons given. Work closely with your doctor. Try not to magnify the symptoms through anxiety, that is a road to avoid.

Early days, Prius. Give your mind and body time to recover.

Thank you for your kind words but I only repeat what I have learnt from the teachings of Claire Weekes.

Jeff, I have been following the principles you gave me. I know it is a long road ahead, but I think it is giving me an ease. I keep looking at the principles. Thank you

Prius, although summed up in 6 words, Claire Weekes' method takes many weeks, even months, to bring recovery and requires a close working knowledge of her first book published in the u.s. as 'Hope and help for your nerves' and in the u.k. as 'Self help for your nerves'.

A few years ago I went through all the reader reviews for all her books on both the u.s. and u.k. versions of Amazon going back just 5 years. There were 1,600 reviews and 90% rated her method either Excellent or Very Good. New or used copies are available on Amazon and E-bay for just a few bucks or quid.

Jeff, I just read Claire Weekes' life story on the Internet. Quite fascinating! My wife just ordered two of her books for me. It was a lovely day in the Washington, DC area today, so I went out with my dog to a park for about two hours. I then went by a marina for another hour. It was beautiful out there. Thanks again.

I am spending a week in a chalet in the hills above a small coastal resort in Dorset with spectacular views. We sometimes forget the therapeutic benefits of being outside surrounded by nature's bounty. There is in fact much truth in the old jest "You should get out more!"

Prius0831 in reply to Jeff1943

Jeff, after a wonderful day yesterday, I did not have a good night. I started off with a solid sleep, but then my dog woke me up twice. She was in a playful mood. I tried following the four principles today, but I have not been focused. I did a few things around the house. I just came back from the barber. It has been raining and cloudy today. if there is no rain a little later, I will go for a walk with my wife and dog, As I just said that, the sun came out.

Prius0831 profile image
Prius0831 in reply to Jeff1943

Jeff, it sounds like it is beautiful at the chalet. I slept well last night. I received the two Weekes' books yesterday. I read a few chapters on Self Help for Your Nerves. It feels like she is talking to me. I got in contact with a therapist yesterday. I start with her on Tuesday. It is going to be a much nicer day here today. I will go out. I have some errands to run.

Prius, that is the reaction of most readers: "It feels like she is talking to me." Also: "It feels like she knows me".Happy reading!

Jeff, I ran some errands this morning. it is beautiful outside. Came back about one hour ago. Waiting on someone to come to service the air condition. I cooked some rice and green beans. Seasoned chicken and will cook it in the air fryer this evening. Thank you again.

I have. After covid i started really having panic attacks and my mental health got much worse

Me too, I had a bit of a melt down last year after covid, when everything got too much for me and I felt I couldn’t cope , I was put on a short course of antidepressants and they seemed to have helped 👍

So sorry to hear you are depressed. Covid is a bugger! My Dr. is part of the team studying Covid long haul issues. He shared inflammation of the brain tissue is a real issue as is seen in scans of people’s brains still suffering from fatigue, pain, anxiety, mental fog/depression. He said they are seeing some good responses to patient complaints with the use of fatty acids. Maybe ask your Dr. To direct you to how much fatty acids to take and test that out?! Or at the very least he/she could read up on it. I wish you a speedy and complete recovery❤️🙏🏼

I would read about the Long Covid effects for people post Covid. Even some people with very mild to no symptoms have presented with all kinds of stuff weeks after the initial exposure to Covid. It's an ongoing study which shows post Covid has effected approx. 30% of the population exposed to Covid. For some people this has caused permanent damage, and there is no cure. Doctors have only just begun to see all the autoimmune damage, brain damage, heart, lung, intestinal damage, etc. The mental health of many also has been effected. Most just don't get over this thing, and if you do, your one of the few. Just keep your doctor aware of what changes healthwise, and emotionally, your going through.

This is a good explanation from CNN:

Great info. I have a son in-law with heart and lung damage from Covid. I have a nephew in the hospital day 6 with Covid. Very ill. I have a niece with focus issues and brain fog.

Jeff1943 , with different variants and immune responses to vaccines we are not all safe. There are people going on round 2 that have been completely vax and boostered here in the US. Are there no cases of this in the UK?

Supportive responses are always good. However the facts need to be shared as well.

I am so sorry to hear about all those in your family affected by this thing my friend, I hope for the best and some recovery soon....it's so heartbreaking especially when kids get sick.

You know I've been living the nightmare of Long Covid for a good while now, so I can empathize with yours going through the same thing. I've always had exceptional health all my life until menopause. Then I dealt with the usual symptoms most women do. But with Long Covid... all bets are off. I rarely have a good day and every day is fraught with exhaustion and memory loss and confusion now. In some ways the brain fog keeps me from ruminating like I used too, but the price is too high. No one knows what the long term effects on all of us who have lost so much quality of life from this will be... but we have only noticed the tip of the iceberg I fear.

I am so sad for your nephew as the kids are really getting hit the hardest right now, we are just past any means to stop this mutating monster...it's out of our hands...we can only wait and hope. It's not over till it's over, just use common sense. I've been double jabbed, I believe it kept me out of the hospital, but didn't spare me from the residual effects.

You have been hit with a lot of these post Covid symptoms. It's tough when you can't do the things you enjoy because the virus has done damage. I'm so sorry you and others have to live with this.

Thank you so much for your kind words regarding my family. There is no rhyme or reason to any of it. It's just plain scary,

I will remain masked and vigilant at all times. I'm not interested in the rules that say we are ok to go about our business. We are not and that is obvious based on my own family.

Please stay safe my friend. I wish you more days without complications and an answer at some point for long Covid sufferers.

❤️🐬

I too wear a mask, and rarely go out. I don't understand the comments made to people who choose to wear a mask. I feel like wearing a T-Shirt that says... yes, I'm wearing a mask... it's called common sense.

Jeff1943 profile image
Jeff1943 in reply to Dolphin14

I don't think I said we are all safe but in the U.K. cases are now in decline despite the end of all mandatory restrictions. Very few masks to be seen in supermarkets and on public transport. Covid will I think still be with us for a long time to come but maybe at the level of influenza.

Yes, many cases of multi vaccinated people in the U.K. presenting with repeat Covid infections: my 32 year old grandson has had 4 vaccinations but currently has Covid for the fourth time. Maybe less severe because of the jabs.

Regarding Covid Long, when I recovered from Covid early in 2020 I immediately noticed constant missed heart beats (arrhythmia) and read that in China 40% of Covid patients experienced it on 'recovery'. It was on average one missed beat in ten.

I've had missed beats for short periods before as a well known symptom of anxiety but these were never ending. Cardiologist said nothing to worry about but fitted a pacemaker 'just to be sure'.

Misbeats stopped for 3 months in 2021 and stopped again for the past 3 months. But no doubt they will be back.

Yes, the full effects of Covid Long are only just being realised and new variants could return with a vengeace.

Dolphin14 profile image
Dolphin14 in reply to Jeff1943

Jeff am I reading correctly that you got a pacemaker for what you were told was a benign occasional missed beat?

🐬

Jeff1943 profile image
Jeff1943 in reply to Dolphin14

No, there was more to it than that, they diagnosed heart block, nothing to do with blocked arteries, it's to do with misdirection of electrical signals from the heart so that at night whilst asleep (on a Holter) they detected my beats per minute were getting a bit low. So the pacemaker corrects this if needed. I have no symptoms with the heart block, no dizziness, fainting or pains. So the arrhythmia is probably a separate issue to the reason they fitted the pacemaker which is for the heart block.

Iv'e heard so many stories and reasons to be anti-vaxxers... but my favourite is that when you get vaccinated... you are chipped with the mark of the beast. Believe what you will as this is what seems to be the new normal in society rather than the facts.

Most who died were unvaccinated but with the rapidly mutating variants, now that has changed and now variants are more infectious, the worry is if they become more lethal. With no one wearing masks any more...it's inevitable... just look at China's Lockdown.

Dolphin14 profile image
Dolphin14 in reply to fauxartist

Had to laugh at that news story saying place a quarter on your arm to test if you were micro chipped. Well it wasn't news.... it was tik tok. Not a very good source for information 🙄

Until it effects your self or your family in a serious way I don't think the full picture will be seen.

😷 on for me

You're absolutely right.... the bar for empathy has been lowered so much that it's pretty much non-existent. People care more about what dress a celebrity wore or which celebrity to back in a sorted court case than they do about kids on respirators in the hospital with Covid. It's become a very callous world we live in. I find a better calibre of crowd here in this group than elsewhere.

fauxartist profile image
fauxartist

Yes...The microchip is real, and it's about the size of a large grain of rice, and it's used by Vets. to tag your dog and cat, not people. Too much of what is taken for reality come from those MTG fairy tales and QAnon misinformation, which is exactly why we are where we are with the great divide between science fiction and reality. I see why kids are so confused and feel hopeless with this kind of lunacy spewed all over the media every day.

Follow the money, who gets rich off of all the misinformation...just because someone says something is true on Twitter or tic tock doesn't mean it's true.

People have just become too lazy to check facts, and science has become voodoo...so... believe what you want... now there is a senator who wants to defund public education all together.... keep um uneducated, misinformed and brainwashed and hungry. Yep... oldest dictator tricks in the world. Hope you like long lines for bread like they have in Russia....

But my favourite quote was that as long as you don't drink Corona Beer from a bottle, and only drink Bud from a can... you won't get Covid....

Big brother is watching us, someone somewhere which we do not care about is watching us! BOO! The old story but unfortunately perfectly true! Man is very gullible, led easily, not just McGee from NCIS 🙄😆or a drone at the end of your street! Covid is with all of us, and because it can form new variants, always will be! Man can build up resistance against some variants but not all, nature will ALWAYS win in the end! Technology is ALWAYS stopgap man is always comes second!

Adlon57 profile image

I believe man has his limit, to rely on his own technology too much is wrong, whilst he shoots to the stars, his roots Earth is crumbling at his feet, thus climate change gathers speed, so he will have to seek new areas to populate to survive, his place of birth will be no more! Never mind what he believes in, I do not believe in any religion at all!

fauxartist profile image

Well, thank you for proving my point about science fiction without facts, History repeats itself. What a sad thing this great divide has created, a cult mentality over reason, so much hate, single mindedness, common sense is no more, and so much is broken.
