Really bad panic attacks

I used to have really bad panic attacks. I would try to go to the store and if anyone was near me or there were more than 4 peyote in an aisle I couldn't go down that isle. One time I was in an aisle, then 5 people with carts started moving into the aisle. I froze, I was sweating, my heart was pounding, I just had to get one more thing... but I said nope and left my cart and just walked out. I hyperventilate in my car, it was so bad. I went to an outpatient treatment in 2007 this place and learned about DBT Dialectiable behavior therapy that was founded by Marsha Linahan? (I think that's how you spell it and her name). I just looked her up and she is on YouTube.. I learned a lot of tools to use. Being mindful was one of them. I remember her saying.. to think about where you are and is this event going to kill me? Or could it? Try instead of thinking with your emotional mind, think with your rational mind. Whhhaattt? So, I started trying it, but would start in small doses, like going to the mailbox or stop sign. When I went shopping it would be at crazy hours, (can't do that anymore now) so, now I will hurry and pick up something and put it in my cart and focus on that while I am going around, but if there are still a lot of people in an aisle I will just skip it and come back later. At least I'm able to get some groceries now. 🙂
