New member here. I have suffered from anxiety and depression since I was in my early teens. I am now 25 and still impacted by it but it comes and goes. Right now it is very present and impacting my life. I work as a social worker at a psychiatric hospital and while I love my job it is the source of a lot of depression, anxiety, as well as secondary PTSD. I’m happy to be here, it’s nice to have people to talk to or to just vent randomly into the internet.

Hello. It sounds like your work is very stressful and you are more than justified in feeling anxious and depressed about certain situations. I am glad you enjoy your work and are fulfilled on that front. I would suggest setting up some you time. You need to take time away form work, at least one full day, to vent and decompress about all that you are feeling. It can be more than a little overwhelming at times I am sure and holding all that inside for long periods of time will only make your symptoms worse. If you do not already on thing that might help is journaling before bed. just to get all the thoughts and stressors out of your head for a short while. Routine and self care are equally important when we work in a chaotic environment because they bring stability and predictability back into our worlds which we rely on to stay calm. I am sorry your anxiety, depression, and PTSD symptoms have gotten worse and started impacting your life. It's a very hard thing to manage under high stress situations so don't feel bad that things have gotten to be a little much. You can overcome this though, it's not easy but day by day we learn to manage and cope a little better and we eventually start to feel better. I am here anytime if you would like to vent of just chat.

Welcome

Do you have a therapist you can talk to decompress from your job. It sounds very stressful and you don't want to push yourself and suffer burn out.

What do you do to take care of yourself emotionally and physically? Make sure you take time for you.
