Wondering if anyone has switched between these two meds and could tell me which one you think worked better for you. I’m on lexapro now but really just thinking it’s lost it’s effect for me so not sure if maybe Zoloft could be a better option. (Yes i know medicine effects each body different but just wanted to hear other peoples stories)
Lexapro VS Zoloft: Wondering if anyone... - Anxiety and Depre...
Lexapro VS Zoloft
Hi, zoloft was a lifesaving drug for me over 15 - 20 years ago when I was anxious and depressed. It helped me for many, many years. I recently went off it bc I had no depression or much anxiety for quite a long time. I tried it again recently but it made me more anxious (I had a stressful fall 2020 that triggered a lot of anxiety, loss of weight and poor sleep). So, I am looking for a new drug now to at least help me sleep. My doctor has prescribed .5mg clonazepam to ease me into bedtime as it relaxes and took away any panic feelings I might have had a few months ago. Am still working on sleeping better. But zoloft was a great drug for me for over 10+ years. Hope this helps you.

Hello- Zoloft was a great drug for me for about 3 years. I was anxious and depressed after my dad passed away after a brief illness. I then began to experience panic attacks and severe anxiety and depression during the pandemic. I work as a nurse. Zoloft was no longer effective for me. I was switched to Lexapro, started on 5mg in February and now am at 20mg and am feeling much better. I attend weekly therapy, and have Klonopin for occasional use as we've titrated my Lexapro dosage. But every day I am feeling better. Anxiety and depression is so different for everyone...I know with the right medical guidance you will find the right fit for you. Don't lose hope!
Jande015- I have been on this for 3 years and it just keeps me calm- Not sure what would happen if I went off entirely but it is working i think and for now i am in a good place so i stick with the plan
Zoloft was successful for me.once but not the second time I tried. I am thinking of trying lexapro. I didn't like Prozac at all.
Thank you so much for the detailed response, that helps a lot! I hope the brain zaps keep getting better for you! Sending good vibes
Hello Jande - I have been taking Lexapro for about seven or eight years now and I tried to switch once to something else - Cymbalta - and it didn't work for me. Plus I had horrible discontinuation syndrome so please taper carefully if you do switch. In retrospect I realized that where I was having excessive anxiety etc. and thought the Lexapro was no longer working, instead of switching meds, I should have sought talk therapy and possibly support groups for the anxiety instead. However, there are times when I wonder whether it helps me at all anymore. I do know that when I first started taking it, it provided a subtle but tremendous improvement overall for me, if that makes sense. It was just easier to do certain things and I felt like I had more clarity. Please let us know if you have any other questions. Medications all affect people differently.
