I took my first dose of Zoloft today. I cut a 25MG one in half and strangely I feel like I might feel some of the effects of the medicine already. I have been feeling pretty calm for the last hour or two, which I haven’t felt all week, so either my prayers have been answered or the medicine is working, or a combo of two!! I know it says that the meds are slow acting but I really can feel some difference. Has anyone had Zoloft work on them quickly?

Unfortunately, SSRIs usually require a few weeks on the right dose to see some good effects. I know it's one of the more commonly prescribed medications to treats anxiety and depression, with some luck it'll offer you some kind of relief.

I doubt you would see such quick results from this kind of medication but stranger things have happened in life.

So often people with anxiety issues will take note of the negative things they felt and remember the bad days, often to the point of ending up in a vicious cycle. I would encourage you to consider what went right today, maybe something stands out?

It's always nice to hear about people having good days or something positive ✌️

I was reading that things would take longer to be effective so I’m just going to attribute to God being wonderful & offering me some comfort. Or either the medicine itself was a miracle! But I’m just thankful for a little bit of peace so I will take ANY relief that I can get! Thank your for the advice I surely will take heed to the positives so I’m not focusing on the negatives

I’ve been on every antidepressant known to man and there was one that I experienced what you are experiencing....Celexa. The relief lasted for about a week. Like you, even if , initially, the relief was short term, I still was grateful for that time. I hope you do benefit from Zoloft in the long term. Keep coming back. ❤️🏄‍♀️

Hi, I was prescribed Zoloft last week too, I took my first dose of 25g today so I hope it works as quickly as yours lol, as others have said they say these drugs take a while to work so maybe it was one of those things, I do hope they work for you and me, we must swap notes , good luck 👍

Yes we can definitely swap notes and stay in touch. I did wake up at like 3 am a little panicky but honestly I was able to get a full nights rest. I cut some music on, said a prayer, and was able to drift back to sleep. Which hasn’t been the norm for me lately so I pray this helps and works for me. I hope yours works for you as well.!!

Hello there! So I took 12.5 MG for 3 days and I didn’t really like how I was feeling. I have been feeling really forgetful on it and have been having headaches. Also I see that it interacts with another medicine i need for my Lupus so I’m going to stop taking it. I’m scared of having withdrawal symptoms even though I only have taken it a very short period. Are you going to stick with it?

Oh sorry to hear that, you’d think your Dr would have known about the interactions though 🤔. There’s a long list of side effects is nt there, I don’t think so as my stomach has been really bad since taking them, feel sick and off my food, it’s so difficult to get the right meds isn’t it , oh well better luck with the next one 👍

Yes! I haven’t had much of an appetite anyway this last week so it’s just not Been good at all. Do you feel like it’s helping at all? Outside of the side effects?

I think it maybe a bit soon as only taken for a couple of days and they reckon it takes at least a few weeks to kick in, the normal starting dose is 25g isn’t it, did you cut them in half because of side effects ? My dr told me that it would get worse before it got better lol but I don’t think I could stick this for a few weeks , I’ll fade away Lol 😳

Yes I cut mine in half to try and avoid side effects I was nervous to take the full 25 MG dosage. One doctor tried to give me 50 MG to start and I was like oh absolutely not that’s too much for a start! I don’t think I’m going to even continue with the 12.5 MG .. I hope I don’t have withdrawals but idk how else to taper off such a small amount lol

I took 25 mg last night and woke up after three hours of sleep with burning body parts. After two hours got myself back to sleep but woke up again two hours later feeling dizzy and burning and tingling. These side effects feel pretty significant after one small dose.

What was your experience? Were you able to muddle through after the first round of side effects?

I honestly stopped taking it after two days. I didn’t want to be reliant on meds and have found natural ways to deal with the anxiety (prayer, refocusing my thoughts, and trying not to worry so much.) I was too scared of potentially becoming addicted to them or having a rough time getting off of them. I’m sorry I couldn’t be of more assistance
