Lately, on some of my darker days, when the need to express the emotions has nowhere to go, and there is nobody to listen, I've started to write, and I do feel like it helps me. Even though it's dark, it lifts my spirits to try to put these feelings into words. I watched a movie called "Paterson" and found it very inspiring. It seems like the movie gave me a new way of looking at writing poetry.
Anyone know of other inspirational movies? or shows? I'm watching the first season of "After Life" now and really like it.

Hi Strugglin. I was gonna start by saying put your poems on here & as I scrolled down there were 2 & I personally felt the deepness in both of them as everyone has that metaphorical symphony within that can be either a negative or positive & ghost is like another version of the song pretty woman running in my head thinking of someone at the same time.
Now the movie & show I've not seen so I don't know BUT I do love watching restoration shows as I suppose for me it symbolises taking old & renew it after others have deemed it scrap & thats how I used to see myself & I suppose when I decided to start putting me first I started restoring myself too. I suppose we all get inspiration from different things & if something make you smile watching on TV then it's for you .
I do a lot of religious/theological reading that stretches my mind. Sometimes dark poetry can help get negative feelings out, but too much of it has the opposite effect for me and I start crying, especially nostalgia writing. I feel best after writing poetry or journaling about nature and being thankful--even thankful for things of the past.
I actually wrote a novel once and had it published. (It's on Amazon.) I wrote nonfiction on my job for a magazine (now retired). But I just can't seem to do it any more and lack motivation and use time up for other things. It's also a hobby that is not active enough. My husband paints modern art.
When I was depressed in my youth I took art lessons locally, and that was a wonderful mood elevator. I did mountain scenes and nature in oils.
