Yes. I am in such a bad way that I don’t want to do anything. Self care seems to be a burden even eating is a burden. All that I seem to want to do is lay in bed.

I feel the same way. Sometimes I wish I could just keep on sleeping but my brain won't allow. I hate even having get up and having to brush my teeth.

I struggle with this too. It helps to start a routine to do things everyday. And make sure to reward the small steps too. Maybe that means brushing your teeth before showering. Because it's much easier to convince yourself to do something if you have already accomplished something else. Even if that small thing is just getting out of bed reward that and keep the ball rolling. Sometimes you need the small things like this to help push you forward. But the most important thing is to set up a routine. If you can do that it will help a lot. Also, don't beat yourself up if you don't manage something. If you brush your teeth and don't shower. Be happy you brushed your teeth that is still a win. And the next day you can strive to move little further each day. Be patient with yourself. Take your time.

Great advise. I do find that starting off with something small helps to get the ball rolling on leads to other things. Gives me more confidence and I'll begin to feel better in general.

The small steps are the most important in a lot of ways. Especially as you said, it builds up your confidence. Hopefully you will be able to feel better. But remember that this is a gradual process. So be patient and compassionate with yourself if it doesn't work right away. Keep at it and you will see results though. Think if is like running up a hill. At first it's very difficult and it's painful. You don't have motivation and it just seems impossible. But bit by bit each day, you get a little further until one day you are at the top of the hill. Also remember that progress isn't linear and if you have a bad day don't beat yourself up over it Instead practice self care and remind yourself that you are only human and things take time.

Thank you for the encouragement. I think it's helpful to remind ourselves to be patient, as we just want to hurry up and feel better A lot of great advice.

Hi ShakeyD I think most adults have a hard time getting up and preparing for the day.

When we were kids, we couldn't get out of bed fast enough and go play with our friends.

As we get older the motivation lowers which has a lot to do with our way of thinking as well as aging. (not saying you are old, just in general the body slows down some)

I wake up each day not really wanting to leave my warm bed and comfy blankets but I

put on my headphones and do a 20min meditation making myself ready for the day ahead.

When I finish, I sit up and say out loud "I'm Back" :)

Whatever lies ahead for the day, I'm ready and looking forward to it.

I shower, dress and feel 100 times better rather than staying in bed in pjs.

I look in the mirror, smile and feel that I've got this.

The motivation grows as the day progresses that's because we are mentally and

physically ready.

Changing our habits and our way of thinking can make a big difference in how we see

a new day. :) xx

That's great. What kind of meditation do you do? Is it just breathing techniques?

Not just breathing but breathing helps me throughout the day, when relaxing, shopping

in the stores as well as driving.

As for meditation, I have been formally trained in Biofeedback, Self Hypnosis, and Relaxation Techniques. The rest I learned on my own on YouTube. Mindfulness,

Affirmations and many other methods. I Meditate 3x a day. Upon awakening, mid afternoon and before bed at night.

I stay in a positive frame of mind by knowing what I can change and accepting what I

can't by not dwelling or focusing on something unattainable.

I have an inner peace that can't be given by popping a pill. This is a Mind/Body thing

also learned on YouTube the Mind/Body Connection. Even with all the research I have

done, I still learn something new on this forum from others going through the same struggles that I once did. I am in full control of my life now (mentally) and am happy to

pass it forward to others. I'm glad you are here with us ShakeyD :) xx

Thank you very much for your inspiring words. Seems you know a lot about ways to quiet your mind. Can you suggest any particular relaxing techniques or any other ways to to relieve anxiety.

Yes. Especially if it’s not a work day. Antidepressants help me.

Me too. I force myself to take a shower but not as often as I used to. And my appitite is shot which is kinda good in a way because I need to lose a few pounds. Hang in there.

My appetite is jacked up too. Comes and goes which doesn't bother me because I can also afford to lose some weight.

Yes; I make myself do it, but some days it is hard. Is there something in particular that's making you feel depressed?

Yes, especially staying home during covid.

I believe that you have to have a routine everyday there's times I don't want to get up but I have to have creams on twice daily and a shower first is a most to get old creams off. Xx

I can relate. I am not very motivated and I have a job. It takes all my willpower not to call out everyday! Im on medication and im afraid if i bring up lack of motivation that my Dr. will prescribe more.

Yes.I am in that point too.

I really struggle trying to go and take a shower.

It is very difficult to get out of bed every morning, but I need to work.

I do not want to do anything. It is like if I do not care. When I try to force myself to do something, I get mad, and some kind of sad because I do not care anymore.

It is a difficult situation that we have to overcome.

You are not alone.

I started taking my shower later in the day. It's easier. Not the norm but at least I get clean!

Been there! This year has been particularly hard on so many more people! Hang in there. Baby steps. Find a good Psychiatrist & Therapist. There are excellent medications out there....and they work when you get the right one(s). There’s hope! Try counting your blessing, even if you have to start with the basics.😊 Try the guided Meditations on the “Insight Timer”while you are in bed!
