Hello, I have taken Citalapram for 15 years. Started on 10mg for 10 years and then 20 mg after some breakthrough anxiety 5 years ago. This November, 2020, I started having sleep anxiety and then generalized anxiety throughout the day. I was exhausted and becoming depressed. My GP started me on 30 mg of Mirtazapine to help with sleep, anxiety and depression. Does anyone else take this combination of Citalapram and Mirtazapine and how is going?

Taking Citalapram and Mirtazapine in combination
I take Mirtazapine for depression not anxiety so cannot really answer that one, although I have found it quite effective for the depression. However what I found personally was that 15mg made me very sleepy and when my dose was increased to 30mg the effect was less so I took 2 x 15mg tablets instead. Now my dose is 45mg it has no effect on my sleep so I take promethazine if I need a sleeping tablet. Also a side effect of Mirtazapine (many people have complained about this) is weight gain.
Thank you for your response. Interesting that 30 mg was less effective, so you took 15 mg morning and evening or do you take 15 in the morning and 30 at night? I take Citalapram for the anxiety and Mirtazapine is to help depression that I have been dealing with, glad that it has helped you.
When my dose was at 30mg I would take the 2 x 15mg at the same time in the evening. I take the 45mg as a single tablet in the evening but because it has no effect on drowsiness (although I am also on Quetiapine which also makes me sleepy) I have additional medication (Promethazine).
