Feeling hopeless.

Hi. First I want to thank everyone for the warm welcome when I joined the group. Lately I've been feeling really hopeless. Everything's been going terribly in general. The virus canceling school again here, doing generally bad in school, exams coming up, terrible relationship with my parents. It didn't help that I was hopeless to begin with. Having no ambitions, no reason reasons to live. It's hard to care enough to study when I don't even care about waking up the next morning. I just feel lost and hopeless.

Hi Roko2048. Covid and this pandemic has obliterated routine for just about every single person living in these times, this includes adults, teenagers and young children. So you are not alone, especially here on HU.

Your stuck at home with no break from being around your parents, distance learning and not seeing your friends and classmates is making your school stuggles worse, your getting outside less and moving around less in general.

My advice, can you talk to your parents regarding your feelings? Or have anyone you trust to discuss this with, like a teacher, another family member, friend?

Getting back to normalcy will come, the vaccine is going to help with this. For now trying to establish a routine, getting outside for fresh air, maybe exercise as well. Do things you enjoy if that's possible, distract your mind off things.

I really think talking with someone regarding your struggles could prove helpful as you need to release these feelings and emotions and get help and ideas how to feel and cope better.

in reply to

Sadly no I don't have anyone to talk to. I doubt the vaccine is going to get here anytime soon as well. I live in an awful place. I tried establishing routines but I just give up after a couple days. I can't even go outside because literally no one here is taking this pandemic seriously so it's a big risk.

There are mental health resources out there to help. Don’t suffer by keeping your feelings to your self.

talk to a teacher, parents, another adult, etc. we have Covid guideline breakers here as well, mask up, social distance and even stay n your own yard, or a park, there’s somewhere outside you can go. Keep trying, don’t give up.....

My teachers are generally awful, terrible relationship with my parents and I don't know any other adults. I don't even have any friends I could talk to. Also I can't go anywhere, I live in a very crowded city.

I know the feeling!!

Sometimes we just have to have blind hope and faith because what is the alternative- suicide??? That's not any solution either. Like in the Bible says we have to walk by faith and not by sight. Hold on. The vaccine is out and will eventually be available to anyone.

in reply to

Actually that does sound very tempting not gonna lie. It doesn't really seem like I have any alternatives.

in reply to

Please, and I've said this to someone else on here who was contemplating suicide, do not go down that rabbit hole!!!! The Lord helps those who help themselves. We're all on here because we care, we are trying to give you some good suggestions. I understand you're in a very dark place, but you've got to do what you can to take action to get yourself out of it!!! Only you can do it. What do you like about yourself??? Get a notebook and write that down. We all care here. Why don't you try going to a library and checking out some self help books about dealing with depression and being positive??? Give it a try, or give SOMETHING a try!!!!

in reply to

Been there, done that. Pretty sure I tried everything I could possibly try.

Hi Roko, remember there is always hope even when you feel hopeless. Depression can play tricks on you and make you think nothing will ever get better, but depression is a liar! Don’t believe what it tells you! There is always hope.

Is there maybe tutoring available at your school to help you prepare for your exams? If you keep an open mind, maybe you will find some interest in your studies to help you get through this difficult time. Any subject or topic that peaks your interest, research it and read about it, ask questions, you might discover a new passion.

in reply to

Sadly no tutors with this virus. Also I don't have any passions anymore, everything just feels numb.

in reply to

Too bad. Does your school have online resources for students? Or perhaps you could find someone locally who would be interested in tutoring students online. There’s a website called tutorfly.org you might want to check out.

in reply to

I doubt it'll have my syllabus. We had online classes but I can not focus in those at all. Also no one does tutoring online here, even if someone did, I still won't focus.

Dear Roko2048,

I'm guessing that you are a School Boy, of about Fourteen- or Fifteen- years old. I'm also guessing that you are either an 'Only' child, or that there is large Age Gap between you and your siblings. You live in a fairly 'Insular' family, at the Best of times, and this Covid has made it Much Worse- especially from your 'point of view'. Am I fairly 'Close' here? Yes I thought so.

Firstly you are NOT 'Alone' Roko, WE are All here, Secondly so are your School- and Other Friends- only a Phone/ Text/ Email/ Tweet (or any other system) Away.

At the risk of sounding clichéd, or a 'Silly Old S-d', you could try you hand at a Small Art Project.... imagine your Satisfaction, when you present Mr 'you know who', with Your- undoubtedly beautiful- Artwork. What was it he said? You 'couldn't draw a straight line right'.... 'Well Sir.... 🤷‍♂️😁🤗.

Have you tried some 'Simple But Extremely Tasty' Cooking? Beans on toast, maybe Cheese on toast. Fried, or boiled, egg. Pasta, with a Tomato Sauce. Sausage, or Bacon, Sandwiches. I'm sure that a 'Spot Of Breakfast' would be appreciated by Everyone- especially if you wash up afterwards.

Perhaps Wash The Dog or even The Car, It will give you 'Something to do' and get you in the Fresh Air- away from that 'Stuffy' House anyway.

Try to write some Poetry..... Just the basic Stuff, Hoping you do not Fluff,

The lines full of Style and Creative Wit, that are definitely not a load of..... Rubbish!

We WILL ALL get through this Roko, yes a bit 'frayed' perhaps, but more- or less- intact. With, I hope, a greater Respect for Others- especially our Doctors & Nurses.

Please feel free, to reply on here or- if you wish- you can P(rivate) M(essage) me. I know that we ALL wish you Well Roko and, sincerely hope, that you feel 'Better' soon. Or, at least, a Bit less Depressed.

Finally a Stupid Joke, for you....What did the Grape say, when it was trodden on? It didn't 'say' anything...it just 'let out' a little whine (wine).

Sending you My, indeed ALL our, very best wishes.

Yeah you're pretty much right. I'm 16 though. I am indeed an only child. I did try all of those things, I'm just completely talentless. I'm actively doing an online art and design course and I'm failing miserably at it. Also I don't have any friends really. I tried distracting myself with things but I can't help but look at the bigger picture, why? Why bother at all? For what?
