Any advice on any little exercises I can do or books that I can read to help me begin to meditate daily and focus on staying in the present moment. PLEASE! I think if I focus on the present moment than I would eliminate worrying and obsessing over things I cannot control or go back and change. I think this will eliminate some anxieties.

Beginner meditation?
You could try staying still and quiet for ten minutes focusing on the breath or you could also try some guided meditations like Tara Brach or by Calm online.
I have trouble staying focus so I practice mantra meditation. Just stay focus on your breathing and be still 🙏xx
Headspace has great exercises that teach you how to meditate. Download the app on your phone so you can get 10 basic lessons free.
Try different methods and be patient because what works for you may not work for others. I need slow movement so I either draw or do yoga. You don’t have to be good at either to benefit. For yoga I am really liking yoga with adriene which is free on YouTube.
Another one is walking meditation. You mindfully walk. You can also do things like walk backwards or sideways which causes you to focus without thinking too much.
Hi Eagle12,
Here are some very good free guided meditations:

And I agree with the others, the Headspace and Calm apps will help you develop a meditation and mindfulness habit that will really help you take control of anxiety.
If you are worrying about specific things about the past or future, this may help:
Start with short meditations. I found that to set my foundation. Once I was able to really focus on that I moved on.It will get easier
You might also look in to Eckhart Tolle (if you haven’t already). He has many amazing books but one called The Power Of Now might be a great place to start.
If you’re like me you might enjoy the audiobook best, as I find just closing my eyes and listening helps me out sometimes. He also has a website with various other resources at: eckharttolle.com
Good for you for giving meditation a try! The first step is usually always the hardest with anything so congrats on taking that first step. 😊
A few keys to remember:
*there is no right or wrong way
*what works for you may be different than what works for someone else
*if your mind begins to wander, just gently direct it back again each time
*keep trying and don’t give up
*it might seem strange at first but it gets easier with time
*you will improve the more you practice
*it may take a few times to feel the benefits but they will come
Good luck to you and best wishes on your meditation journey. 💙
Look on You Tube for 45 minute body scan by Jon Kabat-Zinn. He is highly regarding when it comes to meditation and mindfulness. Also his book Full Catastrophe Living is a good book to read regarding mindfulness meditation. The 45 minute body can can be done lying down in bed. I practice this meditation every day 2 - 3 times. It has become a peaceful time for me especially when anxiety tries to get the best of me which it is currently trying to do to me.
I highly recommend the Headspace app.
Jack kornfield has programs that teach you how to meditate, search online !
