Anxiety Go Away

I am new here and feeling desperate. I have suffered from some sort of anxiety all of my life since 5 years old and I am 65. My body is now handling the anxiety differently. Since COVID-19 I developed a poly vagal response to anxiety, meaning my blood pressure drops and my heart rate slows and sometimes I faint. It is very scary!!! Tonight for some reason I really can’t control the anxiety at all this is the reason I am writing this. My heart rate goes from very slow to fast and then I go to panic!!!!!! Some back info. I lost my best friend my 15 year old dog a week ago and he got me through 2 cancers, a stroke many broken bones and surgeries, Even though my adult daughter lives with me she is not understanding when it comes to mental illness. Does anyone here have any!!! Suggestions of what I can do tonight to calm my anxiety or does anyone have something similar happening with them. Feeling very!! alone.

Hi🙋‍♀️ and welcome on here! We are a very supportive group, so I hope you get what you need here! I am sorry for the loss of your fur-baby.😔

Tips for nighttime calming that help me:

-long shower

-watching a good show on TV

-reading a good book

-coloring app on phone

-I enjoy cross-stitch. Do you have any hobbies that could help calm you?

There is also Dr. Andrew Weil's 4-7-8 breathing technique. It is breathing in to a count of 4, holding for a count of 7, and breathing forcibly out to a count of 8. Here is a link where he explains and demonstrates how to do this:
