I can be contented and happy and suddenly feel depressed. What's happening here? Do moods shifts that quickly or am I not aware of when the shift happens until the feelings become stronger.

Yes!!! Sometimes I am scared that there is something more than just GAD and MDD going on with me because I feel crazy sometimes... the smallest things can ruin my entire day and put me back in a nasty funk :( and I also have periods where I’m more than just okay and I’m functioning as normal! But it really does change so quickly

Thank you for your response. I usually say to myself, oh no my meds aren't working or there is something worse than what I have.

I think they do shift that quickly. I’m thinking in terms of how our brains actually work. As soon as there is a shortage, or something misfires up there 🧠 it’s instant. I’m sure there’s some subconscious stuff- things we may be avoiding, or haven’t fully dealt with- but sometimes I think it’s just our brain mechanics.

It’s really frustrating when people say things like anxiety and depression serve a purpose (which they may do at times.. ) I’ve heard “what is your depression/anxiety trying to tell you?” And I usually feel the answer is “that I have a chemical imbalance and hyperactive amygdala”

Thank you. If my anxiety/depression is telling me something, it is probably that I am anxious and depressed.

Yes!

I think of it like a switch sometimes. One minute I’m fine, something random or minor (or sometimes nothing at all) happens and my mood completely changes.

Thank you. I have to remember the next time I crash to the floor that there are probably several 100 other people on the floor like me also asking, "What just happened?"

Unfortunately. It's so exhausting!

My Mood changes a lot, I have Anxiety and one minute I can be happy and the next I can have extreme anxiety. Our moods change through out the day very quickly for example its like if you hangout with a friend and you see your friend is mad and if your around all day or just around them enough that you might get mad because your friend is mad, you just seeing your friend mad makes you mad too, that is why they say to hangout around positive people because if you don't the energy over the other person might change your energy too so yes our mood changes very quickly. One minute someone can be super happy but at night time they can be depressed that is why they say to always check on people because one minute they may look okay but really they might not be.

Thank you for your response.

Pugs are really cute. I have a likeness for dogs with flat, smashed looking faces. I used to have and breed English Bulldogs.

My moods shift incredibly fast at times. It's frustrating and scary sometimes. I have been told I have ultra rapid cycling bipolar disorder. The worst is being manic and depressed at the same time. I hope you can get the help/relief you need to deal with these issues. I know it can feel scary and even lonely. Hugs
