This is how I started, don’t read any conspiracy theories, they make you more anxious. Take everyday as it comes, I’ve stopped reading social media and the news so I don’t work myself up too much, I’ve been playing games on my phone and laptop and watching box sets (just finished Modern Family and now watching Derry Girls) it’ll all be over before we know it, just need to find something to do. Take care, stay safe x

Stay away from the TV...social media.

All the media is cashing in on everyone's fears...

The regular news is bad enough, but show like inside edition are as bad as Jerry Springer or the Enquirer...

Stay home, follow guidelines.

Most places are starting to level out, and well below projections, so this not the time to panic.

I am so sensitive and gullible at times! My fears are many especially about the end of the world! Hope it doesn’t happen in our lifetime! Can remember being scared about it when I was little even! Insecurity!

These sort of theories pop out all the time. The world has suffered many terrible wars, far worse pandemics than this ie the plague, smallpox etc. And it hasn't come to an end yet. It will one day but not for another few million years, so chill. x

The world is going through a serious pandemic, but that does not mean this will be the end of the world. Remember, the world has experienced Pandemics many times over throughout history. And, thats right Human Kind is still here. We are strong intelligent and highly resilient to many dangers of the natural world. The fact that we have been around so long is undeniable proof! This Pandemic is not the end of times, but just another hurdle that will be overcome just as we have done since our beginning! ☺

As the previous answers stated, we have had many scary pandemics and plagues. We're still here. And there are many theories out there about the world ending now.

But the world will end some day, so there's no point in denying it. I think a good way to cope with the fear that comes with thinking about the end times, is to find a good pastor, minister or reverend, or church, and get some spiritual counselling about the after-life and your place in it. You may already have someone in your life that you can talk to about spiritual matters.

I don't say this to scare you, but this is what helps me to cope with the scary predictions. I am not religious, but have a strong faith and believe in what the Bible teaches. That is where I get my reassurance.

Please don’t listen to these kind of shows, they put things into your mind, that are not true. Yes everyone is scared they’ll get it. But I have lived though other things like polio, and TB, soviets threading to put a bomb on us, we had shelters in back of our homes, we will get though this. Please don’t talk like this on here, other people will start to think the same way. We all have to have hope this will end soon❤️

The only reassurance we have is in God, don’t be afraid he is with you. I’ve been dealing with anxiety for over 16 years, but the funny thing is that with all this that is going on it has help me with my faith in God and I haven’t had much anxiety. I’ve been praying and reading his word and I feel a inexplicable peace in my heart.

There have been times in the past where this has been said. I can’t remember dates? But tell you about incidents, have you heard of Nastradamus? He predicted the end of the World (you can google these) people really believed this. There was a Jewish and Asian leaders that told their congregations the world was ending told them to get rid of All of their belongings. Never Happened. There’s Always someone saying things like that to get attention. They say God decides this, but for Me I think it ends when I die doesn’t that makes Sense? I’m 65, I remember when I was about 8 I was told that California would fall into the ocean due to a Earthquake. So I laid awake waiting to die. So Please DONT let this get You down. For all you know a car could hit you tomorrow then you wasted time when you could have been enjoying Life? And IF it did? What could you do? Worrying won’t Stop it, I Believe it ends when You’re Life does. Take One Day at a time 🙏

Dear Barbasol (that’s the shaving cream I use!), this is indeed disruptive and threatening, and our brains and bodies respond in different ways. Some of us react as though what will happen someday is for-sure-going to happen in the next X months. Most people’s stress meter is at an appropriate 3 or 4, and they take precautions. But some of us have stress meters at 11, with the needle bent!

Have you ever received Cognitive Behavioral Therapy? It’s no instant cure, but it did teach me that we Overestimate the chances of the worst case, and Underestimate our ability to cope, and that by talking or journaling through our thought processes, it can soothe that immediate-danger part of our brain. Some therapists work online, and there are apps that will lead you through it.

You believe in God, so do I. I’m a Jesus person; this is what I do. Try reading Psalm 23 and Psalm 46, slowly, breathing deep and slow. Let it soak in. Even if this is the beginning of the apocalypse, God has His eye on you and His hand on you. Nothing can separate you from His love. Read Romans 8. A lot of it I don’t understand, but a few parts are pretty clear. Nothing can separate you from His love. Nothing.

If it is the beginning of the end, I want to go out loving God and loving my neighbor, which is pretty much what I want to do anyway.

And I don’t want to let the possible future steal from the certain today. Here’s a little “poem” from my dark times:

“Cardinal is singing, and he is beautiful.

“Even if he never sings again, he is beautiful today, right now.

“Cardinal is singing, and he is beautiful.

“Do not take that away from him, but enjoy his song, for he is singing today, and he is beautiful.”

You are on my too-long prayer list, Barbasol.

That is mere speculation. Jesus taught in Scripture that no one knows when the end would come. Covid-19 can better be seen as God's grace and mercy calling and reaching out to mankind that He is in control--not mankind. God wants all to put our trust in Him and not in toilet paper! Those who believe in Jesus (that He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins (that we cannot pay for) and then rose victorious over death-we will have eternal life. Christ died and is victorious over our anxiety and all that which is oppressive to us. Trusting in Jesus is truly the only answer. Read the Gospel of John, and get the book: "The power of right believing" by Joseph Prince. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Barbasol,

Hope you'll find comfort in these inspired words of Jesus:

“Never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have its own anxieties. Each day has enough of its own troubles.”—Matthew 6:34

The Bible has helped countless people to cope with daily pressures, to ease their physical and emotional distress, and to find meaning and purpose in life. Also, your faith can give you stability now and a reliable hope for the future.

Please consider the words of GOD at Jeremiah 29: 11, 12

'For I well know the thoughts that I am thinking toward you,’ declares Jehovah, ‘thoughts of peace, and not of calamity, to give you a future and a hope. And you will call me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.'

Much good advice here. The problem I see is that pop culture has painted the end times as a horror movie and some religious people do to. I long for that time because Jesus will return and the dead will arise who have accepted his love. In fact we already have that promise. See John 5..Study all of John. Save the OT for later and revelation needs interpretation for this it uses symbols and the theme is good vs evil and reveals Christ battling satan as he tries to destroy the world. He is finally vanquished and the end of revelation is beautiful. Gods people will be protected in the end times. Should they fall asleep they’ll soon be resurrected. Jesus refers to this dying as sleep with no passing of time. Don’t feel bad about being afraid. It’s just a feeling some of us inherited or learned like a disease. Accept faith of Jesus as your own and his grace and righteousness. You are loved.

Junella,

I'm sure you know that the so-called OT (Hebrew scriptures) are part of the instruction we need to fully grasp the Word, the origin of creation, God's deep feelings and His dealings with people.

Also important is what the new testament tells us at 2 Tim. 3 : 16,17 ...

Any translation is clear ...

'All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, (instructing)

for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness,

so that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.'

I totally agree that the "end" is not a horror movie. On the contrary, it means our deliverance is near... Do we not pray for His kingdom to come. Yes :)

I am sorry you missed the point. I was not downgrading the OT. I was speaking to a person with high anxiety and the OT has too much violence for someone going through that. The OT is important to understand Revelation and the NT--Jesus is found throughout. However, this lady was looking for affirmation that she is cared for--a spiritual need rather than Bible study for history and theology. When one is mature/healthy enough for indepth study the Bible taken a a whole fits together a a puzzle with many parallels. Some of Psalms is comforting; some is not.

I believe many media outlets are hyping everything up just to get ratings. I've limited myself to a couple of what I believe are reliable sources of information, and I don't read or watch those every day. I do other things to occupy myself...hobbies, cleaning, mowing, etc.

Junella profile image
Junella in reply to Storsie

It is hard to know who to believe, but some have a pattern of being against everything and having misrepresented events and words and said really absurd things before this. Bias and power have divided us, and that has made it all worse. A nation divided against itself cannot stand. This in itself causes me anxiety.

Don't worry.. Not the apocalypse.. According to the Bible there are a few more things to be restored in the world before that. Something to draw men and woman to God as a refuge?? Possibly. God is in control. Pray and trust Him.

Barbasol profile image

What things need to be restored according to the Bible?

Marshall64 profile image

As others have said, there have been other world events where I'm sure that people thought the end of the world was coming. 1/3 of Europe died from the Black death in the 1300s. Can you imagine what that was like? The Spanish Flu killed over 600,000 Americans in 1918; more than all Americans dying from WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam combined. Humans have gone through worse and the world didn't end.

What else has to be restored according to the Bible?
