Breathless and pounding heart
I think whenever we experience symptoms that relate to the functioning of our hearts it’s scary. And then it causes a great amount of additional panic making it a vicious cycle.
That’s not to say that you might not have a heart issue and shouldn’t get it checked for peace of mind. Most docs are scheduling phone appts now, so def set up a phone appt and state you would like to do some tests for some peace of mind.
If you experience any symptoms prior to your appt., try some calming techniques that focus on regulating the breath and relaxing the nervous system. If the symptoms continue, cause pain, or shortness of breath, then get yourself to an emergency room ASAP.
Hi, I live with severe anxiety and lately I’ve been having it bad.... every so often it gets so bad, where my heart pounds, I get sweaty, and sometimes I tend to black out... for a few days now my anxiety has had me short of breath, it almost feels like I’m pregnant... when I get up to walk I’m so breathless and I have to go outside so I get the oxygen I need so I don’t black out... it can get really scary when I’m about to black out my vision goes... it’s like that feeling when you get up to fast and everything dulls... and my hearing goes and everything is a blur... I can barely hear it remember anything while it happens... it’s hard for me to go to sleep sometimes so I take 5mg melatonin a night when I think o need it... and I just shut my eyes and put some relaxing anxiety affirmations or music on... and I tend to fall asleep...
Sounds like a panic attack to me. If I'm totally stressed I start getting the pounding heart, my heart rate increases, I feel as if I'm surrounded in doom and gloom like I'm jumping out of my skin.
Meditation, yoga, deep diaphragmatic breathing,. Can help immensely. There are meditation videos on youtube that are really great. My Therapist gave me a bunch of videos I keep on my youtube page.
Getting your breath under control is the first thing to do...breathe deeply...
