Every day more and more Americans are struggling to cover their medication costs, leading to difficult choices between paying for food, housing, or prescriptions. Uninsured Americans face the most difficulty, often looking at extremely high medical bills and expenses they must cover on their own. People with insurance are also feeling the pinch with high deductibles and co-pays leading to increased out-of-pocket costs. For those struggling with the healthcare costs there are many different kinds of programs and resources across the country designed to help. Unfortunately, they can be difficult to locate and are not well advertised. NeedyMeds can help you find these often life-saving programs. ADAA is proud to collaborate with NeedyMeds to provide this helpful guide to American healthcare cost savings programs: adaa.org/sites/default/file...

I can't believe so many Americans are against a socialised medical system such as we have in the UK! We don't face these choices here thank goodness and no one suffers or dies due to lack of money. I think the USA system is barbaric and it is up to them to fight for what they want and need. Until they do this awful situation will continue x

You are absolutely right. It’s a horrible broken system we have, and there doesn’t seem to be much effort to change it. Unfortunately it’s a system built completely on profits and it’s in the billions. For insurance and pharmaceutical companies there’s no incentive to change. And our politicians in Washington protect those profits, and more and more people like me pay more and get less.

I wish we did have a European style of healthcare. Something needs to change.

Oh if only we had just a little socialism for the people here in the States. Talk about help to pay for legal meds, what about help to pay for medical marijuana? Insurance companies are breathing a HUGE sigh of relief cause they don't pay for MMJ; it's a cash market. As a child of the opiate generation the government took the easy way out on that crisis. Let the people have their pot, at least they're not dying over it. MMJ is not a panacea for pain relief. It helps, but is not effective for chronic or severe pain. And no doctor wants to treat a patient who mentions "pain" because there's very little they can do to alleviate it. And finally after how many years? now the CDC recognizes that the sudden opiate withdrawal led to the street addictions and death from black market pain relievers like heroin and fentynal. Not to mention those who simply committed suicide rather than live a pain-filled life. Way to go you "jack-booted thugs" from the DEA and FDC. Due to your over-reaching, harsh penalties and procedures you effectively took those peoples lives. Take everyone down cause a few idiots smoke it or inject it and now everyone suffers. Give those idiots their Darwin Award and give us something that will relieve us the pain and agonies we suffered at work to pay our taxes. Yet when we get old and of use no longer we get a meager pension (Social Security) and a few meds to keep the heart ticking. No much else. It hurts getting old. Especially in America.
