I have been dealing with my latest bout of anxiety and depression for little over a year now and it is still very intense. I am currently in talk therapy and on medication for it and the process seems to be taking a long time. I was just wondering how long it took you before they found the right medication for you? What kinds of things have helped you deal with anxiety and/or depression?
I’m feeling like once or twice a week therapy sessions just aren’t enough right now
My medications, not only for Mental Health concerns, also Pain medications took two years.
The AD Medications took me about six months, the side effects in the early stages took about six weeks, my problem was mixing with Opiates.
I have had CBT and that can take time until you understand what may be expected of you. We seem that we have to understand why we feel the way we do, also how to become in control of our concerns and move on. CBT varies depending on the Operator and their techniques. Initially you may feel distress and sensitized when you discuss your worries and concerns, the clever part is when you start addressing what has been wrong to make you feel the way you do. In a way that is all down to the patient, understand yourself and getting better may be closer than you think. That happened in my case where I began to take control of my problems and making some changes to help me move on.
Try not to be frightened to make those changes, in my case they were quite far reaching although generally this may not be the case. Consider what you want in life and go for it. You will hopefully gain confidence and move on .
