How do you overcome anxiety?

Well for me, taking a deep breath, drinking water, eating chocolate, talking to a very very close friend and walking without destination helps. :)

First the bad news.. you don't overcome anxiety in fact you need it. Now the good news, you can control the level of anxiety by many different ways. Anxiety is where you mind races and your brain says your in danger, the danger my not be a pyshical threat but a fear of something. This triggers parts of the brain controlling fight or flight. Change your thinking with CBT, mindfulness and neditation. Exercise will dissipate the chemicals in your bod and promote feeling that aid mental well being.

I think the best way to overcome anxiety is by having therapy to teach you coping methods. Therapy will also get the root of the anxiety which is a great help. If you know were it comes from then it can be tackled.

I have high anxiety, it comes from the deep depression I am in, are you depressed? I have a great therapist I see twice a week. My Dr. also gave me a script for lorazepam, which I only use when I need it. I am improving and some times do not take any. I try to stay busy with "no Brainer" jobs, involved thinking tends to bring the anxiety in. Listen to peaceful music, watch videos - that occupies my brain, take rambling walks just to be outside. We have to be kind to ourselves, eat a healthy diet, talk with nice quiet people, It is difficult, but we will win in the end. I send you peace, love & hugs. Sprinkle 1.....

Hello 2shy, you are welcome here. Am sorry you are doing through this. You are not alone. I can understand how the feeling. Getting better with anxiety is a process. Its may take a while depending on how much help you can get and how best you can control it. First of will ask what best help you to relax? You can explore what best works for you. Deep breathing exercise. Taking walks outside for fresh air or changing environment can also help. Watching movies or video. Listening to inspirational or motivational messages can also help. I know counselling can help, so in case you need help finding a counselor near you or if you need to talk to someone about this you can call 855-382-5433 for counseling consultation.
