I had a BAD experience on it..

I was put on gabapentin as an anti-seizure medication, & it was the worst time I've ever had. To my understanding it's one of those medications that they use for several things, mood stabilizer, muscle relaxer, & for seizure disorders -Mine was epilepsy. I gained alot of weight (though to be fair, i was also on a birth control at the time that most likely contributed), i was a huge crabby biotch, slept alot, had many bouts of bladder incontinence (probably due to the Muscle relaxing bit of it!?), & i was just constantly miserable in general. I was not happy one bit, & my seizures didn't go away, so eventually after playing lab-rat with me, they decreased down to nothing to try something else, first levitracetam(sp?), then lamotrigine or "lamictal" you might hear it called - which worked best, until i finally didn't need it anymore, for seizures. I stayed on it for another yr just for the anti-depressant bit of it that i needed frm it. But now that i am healthy (clear MRI), no seizures, I'd rather be off meds, & trying to get pregnant (which confused me, originally i was told it'd be safe to be on while pregnant, now im being told it's not.), I'm managing my emotions on my own. It's not always easy, esp being a woman when there's times of each month our levels go wacky, but you figure out how to deal w/that eventually, to what is your version of "normal." Hope this helps
