I n the middle of an attack help

I’m in the middle of a panic attack and I am trying everything I can to not overreact. Somebody talk to me please!!!!

Take long, deep breaths, take a time out from any stress stimulating activity and go for some relaxation look after yourself and remember you can just stop and be

We are here..... it's the panic talking, not reality. Eat something sour or hot....take a cold cold shower....anything that messes with the senses can help our brain reboot.... u r not alone

I drink water since my throat gets so dry. U also took a shower to see if it calms me down. Thanks for your care. ❤️

MEGL53, a panic attack is a horrible experience but remind yourself it's not going to kill you, you won't become disabled and it isn't going to make you lose your mind. It's a feeling caused by an over sensitised nervous system not some physical illness.

Also, it isn't going to last, it will stop by its own accord, it's self limiting.

But it's still a really rotten feeling, I know, so do the breathing relaxation exercise, you know, breathe in slowly through your nose, hold it for five seconds, then breathe out slowly through pursed lips, repeat and repeat and repeat, it releases calming hormones into your system.

Also imagine there's a large muscle where your brain is, now feel that muscle relaxing, let your jaw drop, feel the muscle go completely limp, feel all the other muscles in your body relaxing until you're in a state of total bodily relaxation. These things should help a panic attack on its way.

Jeff1943 thank you so much. I tried calling my friends and my sons and daughters but no one answered. I was so desperate I couldn’t stop walking around the house. Hyperventilating was terrible so I called my pharmacist to make sure I could take another alprazolam and she said yes since it was not more than what was prescribed ( I hate Xanax but it’s the only thing that helps) she stayed on the phone with me talking calmly for 20 minutes. I was better 20 minutes after the pill kicked in. I’m so grateful for her and for your support. Take care

I'm sorry you're have a hard time. It is so hard. But you can find ways to cope. Have you sought therapy? Also prayer DOES help. Controlled breathing.
