Under every autumn leaf lies the shivering last glimpse of wasted summer. But I'll find it. I'll dig down with frost hard apple knives and leave the sunset beaches and warm firefly walks as empty and hollow as I. And when night comes early and bare branches creak in October rushes you'll know their promises that they loved you didn't mean much. Not when there's something trying to get in at the window panes. Not when the vibrant greens have turned the sopping wet brown of forgotten and uncared gravestones. And where am I in all this, with my usual dimly lit attic reasoning? Alive.
