What did you lie about? Why? I was admitted to a mental hospital after a breakdown and I didn't tell the docs why it really happened. I didn't want certain things on my permanent record. They diagnosed me bipolar and so I took the meds seven years. I stopped them all a year ago because I know what happened. Some people and family will think I'm bipolar but the people I'm close to know the truth.

Do you think you have some other disorder and you didn't want to be honest?

This can happen? Don’t they do thorough testing over a period of time to determine if someone is bipolar?

in reply to

No. In the hospital they slap on a diagnosis after a couple minutes and then forced me to stay two months. I missed my only child's first day of school and first lost tooth. It was awful!

Wow. That is crazy. I used to work in a hospital. I worked in the kitchen. I would volunteer to deliver food to the behavioral ward. They didn’t call it the psych ward. I was amazed how insensitive the kitchen staff was towards behavioral. You would think they would have compassion but the stigma runs deep, I would always volunteer and treat everyone on behavioral with kindness and a smile. That is the only part I miss about that job. Was greeting the patients on behavioral. They always liked the guy who bought the food.

That's great! The staff where I was laughed at us and abused us mentally and physically. We were a joke to them.

Yeah I was shocked when I heard the kitchen staff. Having a mental illness myself it kinda made me sad and angry. I am glad I am not working in the kitchen at the hospital anymore. It seems human nature can not accept the mentally ill unless you have a loved one who suffers.

So true. People don't realize life can change on a dime and they could wind up there just like anyone else. We are all human and should be treated with love and kindness. Thank you for your smiles and kindness to all those patients. We need more like you in the medical field. Maybe that's why I love being a nurse, because I understand pain and suffering mentally and physically.

Yeah they can’t teach empathy. It just comes with age and struggle. I love people. I especially love helping them. Thank you for your kind words. It takes a special person to be a nurse. I saw how hard they work. You must be strong.

Thank you. I hope you are in a customer service type job now. Sounds like you are needed there.

No still looking for work. My last job was in customer service. I injured my back so I have to wait.
