Your anxiety was really in control. These sensations are not unusual. I hope your day gets better. 💛

Fast heart rate due to anxiety (under 200bpm) is nothing to worry about. It confirms you are still alive! Dizziness is also a well known symptom of anxiety and first thing on waking is often a bad time for feeling anxiety as we pass from relaxed slumber to the prospect of facing the challenges of the new day.

So at least be reassured that your nervous system is responding to anxiety in the normal way. You are not in harm's way, nothing bad is going to happen to you.

Anxiety causes these and other symptoms because the release of fear hormones has made your nerves over sensitive. So calm yourself, cease your worries and instead of adding second fear to the flash of first fear just accept the discomfort of your symptoms for the moment. Accept them as a perfectly normal reaction to stress that you have no need to fear.

Freedom from fear will eventually heal your jangled nerves, until then just accept for the time being and deny your nervous system the fear that sensitivity thrives on.

My heart does what I call a ‘dip’ and then flutters every morning. I have to get up slow. Thanks Jeff

Anxiety takes many forms but it is always still anxiety.

Thank you all for your responses they helped me calm down and I will definitely have to start getting up more slowly and try not to panic or overthink my anxiety I love this app!

The same thing happened to me in the morning. Btw I went to the doctor today & I got my heart checked. Everything was okay . So it’s just anxiety symptoms . Don’t think of it & you will feel better again.

Yeah I also went to the Dr today since I felt like I was going to faint my heart rate was high that the dr did an EKG he said it was ok just the heart rate was high at least it gave me peace of mind

Same thing happened to me wow haha but the good thing is that now we know it’s all bc anxiety & not a heart problem.

Yes!! For sure now we just have to reduce the “what if” thoughts and accept that we’re actually having anxiety and it will pass just like the other times and we will get better soon I know we will!! Let’s be thankful that we have nothing wrong with our bodies.

Exactly! we just need to reduce the anxiety until we get rid of it. True <3

Hi lizz this happened to me the night, it's such a scary feeling.

I used breathing and grounding techniques, it helped a little but as soon as I tried to lie down, I just felt that wave of anxiety in my stomach and my mind would not settle, I had to call a friend to come and stay with me.

It makes you feel crazy, detached

😔

It’s such an awful feeling i cried because i felt that it wasn’t going away soon enough and i tried doing breathing techniques and all but i felt like i was going insane i can’t be alone if I’m alone I’ll start to panic I feel like a big baby cause I’m so scared of being alone I’m with my mom everyday but I hope our symptoms go away ASAP and we can resume our life like it was before

I cried too!

I'm glad you have someone with you,it's s good distraction.

Doesn't take the anxiety away.

I hope you're feeling calm today?!

I have that nervous feeling you get with anxiety.

I just have to keep going keep busy

Lizz1989 profile image
Lizz1989 in reply to jjroads

I’m trying to feel calm but sometimes is just so hard to the point I get stressed and upset then leads to crying so what I have been doing is coloring or doing a crossword puzzle which does seem to help for distraction

I've bought an adult colouring book but haven't tried it yet.

I'm not sure if be able to concentrate while in that flight or fight stage

Maybe once I've calmed down.

Or even before bed to relax

Yes I work on it when I’m a bit relaxed that way I can stay relaxed and distracted but when I’m very anxious I just open my front door and get some fresh air or drink a very cold glass of water cold water cuts of the nervousness or putting ice cubes in your hands and playing with them helps too

jjroads profile image
jjroads in reply to Lizz1989

I put my head out the window, wash my face in cold water too

I will try the ice cubes

Thanks 🙂

Yessss I don’t know what it was if it was my high blood pressure stroke or anxiety nothing worked for me either I had to lay down but I was so anxious I convinced myself not to fall asleep in case I had a stroke in my sleep it was ridiculous

Yes I guess with all our symptoms it makes us think way too much but in reality non of the things we think that are going to happen, happen so all it is is horrible sensations that aren’t leading to what we think it will it usually just bad anxiety symptoms nothing more

Yes at my worst I had those symptoms. The more I focused on them the worse. They became. What worked for me was learning CBT I still get anxiety but I can identify the symptoms accept them and focus on my breathing. Hope you feel better soon

Your right I’m gonna try to focus more on my breathing see if that’ll help calm me down. Thank You 😊

Yes,, it's because you have so much cortisol in your system cortisol is the stress hormone so you wake up with anxiety because it's in your system a very high level and when you're struggling with this type of anxiety your body gets into a state of anxiety I can tell you that I no longer take the standard SSRI I now take Trazodone at night and it has almost knocked my anxiety out completely and walk back home I can't say enough about this medication helps me sleep it feels like my depression and my anxiety is almost gone I'll try to respond do you respond back you got to just push through and it sounds like maybe you need a temporary benzodiazepine in the process

I take Lorazepam as well.... what's the end of my pregnancy I was having back-to-back panic attacks and Ativan was the only thing that saved me hang in there you need to adjust something... you can also take Benedryl as an extra help for anxiety....

Hang on this too shall pass.... AND TRY TRAZADONE.......its working so well for me... not a regular ssri.... it's a seratonin modulator... look into it... I have been living almost anxiety free for 3months. Miracle drug for Agoraphobia type anxiety which Is how bad mine gets.... try it please.......

Yes I keep telling my self the same that it shall pass and it does seem to help I will talk to my doctor in regards to those pills see if I can get some to relax a bit. Thank You 😊

Yup I wake up like that everyday. I usually only get 5 or 6 hours of sleep and as soon as I wake up at 4:00 or 5:00 in the morning my anxiety takes over.

I have a rapid heart rate, racing thoughts, and all I do is worry. It’s impossible to relax.

I just wanted to throw my two cents in.... your not alone. I’m sorry I don’t have any advice to give.

It’s really hard to sleep for a full 8-9hrs I also been waking up in the middle of the night just overthinking I tried a heating pad I put it on the back of my neck and it really does help relax u should try it

Shutterbug65 profile image
Shutterbug65 in reply to Lizz1989

Thank you. I may give it a try. I tend to wake up early with anxiety. My mind worrying about this and that. I need to find away to turn that off.

When your brain is in a state of anxiety you need medication that's all there is to it something's not right with your meds

That happens to me a lot, then often gives way to the depression that I woke up again. It also happens to me when I lay down to sleep some nights my heart feels like it will pound out of my chest.

Yes that’s me for the past month sometimes I wanna shower in hot water to relax but even being in the shower causes me anxiety it’s awful

Omg! Me too. I woke up very anxious today. Sad , I forgot what it's like to get up and face the day with happiness instead of dread

Lizz1989 profile image
Lizz1989 in reply to Anxiouslisa

Yup I couldn’t even go to work way to anxious

Shutterbug65 profile image
Shutterbug65 in reply to Anxiouslisa

That’s exactly the way I feel in the morning. And I never used to feel this way. As soon as I wake up, dread and anxiety take over, my mind is just a treadmill of worrisome thoughts. And this tends to last all morning.

I hope it passes, I don't talk to family or friends about it because they are always complimenting me for being so strong and able to cope with the shit storm that my life has become.
