Had coffee

So I had a cup of coffee this morning and now I feel jittery which is causing a bit of anxiety. But funny thing I feel more like my of self feeling this way. I haven’t had coffee in months except for a few days while on vacation and dealing with a time change. Since I started meds and an anxiety Episode In January I kept saying I haven’t felt Like myself, well here I am feeling life my self but I guess it’s best not to feel this way because it’s anxiety! Just reflecting on my definition of normal. 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

That is a confusing sensation, I noticed when I quit drinking caffeine( energy drinks and coffee), that now when I do it definitely makes me jittery/ anxious( I’ll opt for the decaf stuff, sometimes half caffeinated if I feel I need it after a late night) I’m not sure if being used to it I didn’t really notice, or if it’s a new dilemma since I’m aware of my anxiety issues

Funny... I stopped coffee a long time ago, but now when I have a little caffeine I often feel 'better' than usual.

Yeah, after I quit caffeine I noticed the similarities it has with, another stimulant, that normally comes from the same region. ( one of my former , very unhealthy coping mechanisms) not sure if anyone else has experienced that, just a little honesty for you guys, and my 2 cents.. definitely not saying caffeine is as bad( my grandfather drank coffee forever and he was a great man) I just know I saw some similarities with the way it effects the mind/ mood.. don’t hate me for the comparison lol ( it’s the first time I’ve mentioned that about myself on here)

Do you mean cocaine? Idk I’ve never tried it but I’m not surprised

in reply to Coralrose5

Yes I do.. it’s a little embarrassing now that I don’t touch the stuff anymore. Definitely a different level of effect, but similar

Don’t be embarrassed about it, it’s in your past. 🙂

That’s true, thanks for that:).. it just feels like it’s weird to talk about sometimes lol

I know what you mean.

Thank you for being supportive of me talking about something I don’t like to talk about.. and don’t let my comparison change how you feel about caffeine, it’s just an observation I had made

Anxiety and panic really enjoy caffeine. That means dark sodas, chocolates, most teas, etc. I avoid caffeine.

Do you know, I think that’s the same with me! I feel pretty good after 7 weeks on Escitalopram in terms of much less stressing and massively improved sleeping (10 mgs) but now a bit too laid back now - struggling in the mornings to get up and get going. Spending a lot of time on the sofa! Don’t feel any sense of urgency to tackle things and (having not really been much of a coffee drinker previously) feeling that maybe the caffeine helps correct this a bit.

I’ve had people suggest I give up caffeine, but I’ve never been able to do it successfully. I must have one hell of an addiction to it.

As long as it’s not effecting your sleep then it’s probably fine!
