Hey everyone, currently im taking A level exams, im just hanging on , im studying , im feeling tense bt not anxious which is good, im getting alot of muscle cramps and twitches for example my thumb always twitches and cramps ..i dont know if its frim stress or fatigue but im feeling off, its been about a while since i had constant stress which is good

I guess im just here to update you guys, and to express some of the frustrations and discomfort im feeling between physical symptoms like muscle cramps, nausea, body pain, headaches, especially after i eat, i think i tend to overeat because i always feel too full, nauseous and uncomfortable, today i felt so bad that my chest felt like its going to explode and that my head had a tight band over it

Im really trying not to overthink i just feel drained , i want this week to pass so i can focus on finishing all i need to graduate this year ..i cant really express everything but i just feel done, i feel tired and sad ..not anything in particular and its probably the pressure of exams and all i faced this year but im not really feeling energized or motivated to do alot ..specially since i have no support system personally

Thank you , it helped me alot at times eventhough knowing more about mental health added to my anxiety at times because now i know what might happen and how bad things get bt im happy i learned all that

What are A level exams? I don’t remember taking those.

A-levels are the british system exams, they are sort of an equivilance to the SAT maybe not sure, but they are taken in the junior and senior year to determine the average needed to graduate and get into university

So the whole exam environment stresses me out because they make such a big deal out of it, i take the exams in a different school , and the exam hall is huge with like 500 students, and they are extremely strict and results get back after about 3 months of agony and anticipation

Thank you for taking the time to explain it. I understand now why they cause stress. They have study programs that can help you do better on the SATs here in America.

Kevin, I am so sorry for your current state! It is no fun, as we all know too well.

The cramping/twitches....do you consume caffiene? A lot? Energy drinks?

I really dont , i dont like them and im sleeping ok , but i think it could be fatigue from studying or maybe dehydration ..but im feeling better today so far no twitching , i have been drinking more water and trying to calm myself down a bit

Stress burns up several vitamins, one being magnesium. Perhaps trying a magnesium supplement would help?! Most of us need it! It also helps anxiety!!! Double winner!

So glad today is a better day!!!

Hi Kevin

It is really understandable that you have an increase of your stress and unpleasant anxiety symptoms whilst taking A levels. This can be one of the most stressful times in life.

I see you are feeling better today

I think you will feel much better once your exams are over.

Very best wishes

Kim

Yes i feel calmer as the exams go by , so im a but calmer now as a move on from one exam to another , its just a constant battle to either face the stress of try to fight it , sometimes i tell myself its not going to kill me and its a normal reaction regardless how bad it feels, and sometimes i feel that it will only get better if i do something about it but sometimes it backfired
