Hi everyone, it feels really weird to write here, but I need some support as I finally have had the courage to get an appointment to a therapist. I am feeling nervous and dont know what to expect, I've been feeling down, stressed and have problems with concentration.

Hi baloon I totally understand how you feel I been in therapy on and off for four years now and it’s hard going in to your first appointment but something that helped me my first time is to have a open mind about things they are there to help. Writing things down in a notebook thoughts you have good or bad that way it’s easier to talk about or just show them if your not comfortable saying out loud

You just have to take it one day at a time and know there’s thing that will set you back but you have to be strong and believe that one day it will get better

I was lucky to get a good therapist, but if you can try and visit with them as if a long lost friend--like someone you know won't judge but you need to catch up with!! I know it's very scarey--you can do this!!

it indeed is very scary, Im afraid I can trick myself into missing it. thanks for trying to cheer me up, means a lot

Imagines with my happy childhood play in front of my eyes. When time passed and I grew up I was more and more unhappy, with physical manifestation of depression and anxiety. Today I'm lost in this life, feeling that I missed my purpose somewhere in the road of life.

I read your post and I think everyone is nervous. My first multiple visits, I was uncomfortable and didn’t want anyone to know. But if you make a good connection with your therapist, you will be glad you made this step

Good luck

Congratulations on harnessing your courage and reaching out for help! I personally found talk therapy to be of great help. My therapist's priority, and I assume it is common amongst therapists, is to make me feel comfortable with sharing my issues and deal with the emotions that I have surrounding my conditions. I don't have to "burden" myself with all of my emotions and my therapist helps me deal with the reactions of those close to me. I have been given homework assignments and sometimes reading to further assist me. Don't be afraid to move onto a different therapist if this one is not a right fit for you. There will be one that is a fit.

That's normal reaction by us anxiety driven people.

Talk therapy can be wonderful. Difficult to find a good match. No matter what, keeping going for therapy. It does help to have an outside point of view.
