Extra Stress and No Time

Hello All, I hope everyone is having a good week so far.

I wanted to request some advice. I have general anxiety and depression for most of my life but have managed it in the past with talk therapy and now I take anti-anxiety medication (specifically, Klonopin) on occasion to manage my day to day. I have a job that requires me to work almost 10 hours a day and I commute 2 hours or more or day. My husband got laid off 2 years ago and has had some work here and there but we invested a lot of money into a startup that he wanted to do and I supported him to do it. I love him dearly and he is so wonderful in so many ways. He never tries to burden me with his own feelings, which makes me feel a lot of guilt and I try my best not to mention the fact that he hasn't been working steadily for two years.

For those who are prone to anxiety and depression, how do you deal with external additional stresses in your life?

Thank you all!

Thank you for sharing colorscheme.

Having anxiety & depression while trying to work full time & hold down a family can be incredibly stressful.

I’m glad you’re here because talking about what you’re going through can be so helpful.

Do you have the option of starting therapy or talking to a counselor?

Best of luck to you ✨

Hi brokenlight, thank you for your response. Unfortunately, due to $ constraints, I don't feel like therapy is an option. I have been considering group therapy as an alternative as that is obviously the least expensive option but I've never done it and a little weary of its effectiveness. I also had tried "text" therapy, which was less expensive but honestly not a great experience. It just felt way too impersonal for my taste.

I understand.

Group therapy could still be helpful, but I get being weary of its effectiveness.

I know you said you tried text therapy... but there are a few apps that help me from time to time.

Insight Timer is great for meditations & a sense of community! I also use it to list what I’m grateful for daily which helps (there are a ton of groups to join). And it’s free!

Moodpath is great for keeping track of your mood, has great resources/tools, & it also checks in with throughout the day. And it’s free!

HealthUnlocked has been really helpful for connecting & I like the anonymity.

Journaling, art therapy, solitude, music, nature, & cannabis/cbd are things that help me cope. And honest communication is so important.

Best of luck to you ✨
